Asus will peg pricing of some upcoming Windows 8 devices to Apple’s new iPad. The company will “use the price of Apple’s new iPad as a reference” when pricing Windows 8 and Windows RT devices. According to a report from Digitimes, ASUS has “warned” Microsoft by saying, “if Microsoft launches its Surface at US$199 … it will cause difficulty for [the survival of] Asustek’s Windows-based tablet.” The Taiwanese vendor also mentioned that Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, which Asus manufactures, will provide a big boost for the company’s tablet shipments …

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga, the transforming tablet which was shown off earlier this year at the CES in Las Vegas, will come in two versions – one that has an Intel processor and one that has a lower-powered ARM Nvidia Tegra processor. The ARM version will have double the battery life of the Intel version. The ARM version will be running Windows RT, it won’t have access to all the legacy applications for Windows, therefore, the Yoga will have access to all the apps in Microsoft’s Store. The device is scheduled to hit the market around the time of the general availability of Windows 8, which is slated for Oct. 26. We believe casual consumer will be confused the differences between Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro models, and of course the price will also determine their desire for purchasing.

Taiwanese PC manufacturer ASUS has introduced a ridiculously brilliant product at Computex, a dual-screen laptop. Yup, it’s real, and it’s called the TAICHI. At first sight, you may think the TAICHI is just a laptop with ultra-thin design, but looking closer, you will see full-HD (1,920 x 1,080-pixel) screens on both sides of the lid. The screen on the outside is touch-capable and when the lid is closed, the TAICHI functions as a tablet, but with the lid opened both screens can be used independently, enabling same-time sharing with a friend face-to-face. Check out the video after the break to see it in action, and don’t miss out the wonderful moment of ASUS CEO Jonney Shih revealing the awesomeness of TAICHI.

After Acer introduced some very strange all-in-one desktop at Computex, the company still have a few more Windows 8 tablets being unveiled at the show. There are two models — Acer Iconia W700 and Iconia W510. The W700 is quite remarkable since it is an Ivy Bridge-loaded machine, combined with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt. Check out how it performs after the break, with photos and videos.
We always have high hopes for what Acer can do with an Ultrabook, other than making it look like Apple’s MacBook Air. So, Acer proved to us they can think different by introducing their new Ultrabook series at Computex, featuring 11.6- and 13.3-inch touchscreens. The new Ultrabooks from Acer also have the ability to lie flat on the table by folding the laptop back 180 degrees. And Acer successfully made their Ultrabook thinner than the MacBook Air. Check out the photos and hands-on videos after the break.
