Rumors are growing that Apple has completed design of a smaller, 7-inch iPad and that the new tablet may be ready for mass production. Today, Lenovo unveiled a 7-inch Honeycomb tablet to take on Apple’s not-yet-released 7-inch iPad, and we think Lenovo could shake the 7-inch tablet market with it. As 2011 grows closer to conclusion, Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics contract manufacturer which assembles products for Apple, Sony and Nokia, has big plans for 2012. The company aims to build more plants in inland regions to reduce labor costs, and most interestingly, 300,000 robots will be added to the assembly line but will not lay-off any workers according to comments made by founder and chairman Terry Gou.
Siemens, the largest Europe-based electronics and electrical engineering company, recently caught up in a “refrigerator door shutting problem” scandal in China. The scandal began by a China’s internet celebrity “Luo Yonghao” who wrote on his microblog that “Siemens refrigerator door does not shut tightly”, and filled several complaints to Siemens customer service, but they refused to admit.
Now that Amazon is shipping the Kindle Fire to its customers, the company is still negotiating with Chinese officials about introducing the Kindle Fire tablet in China. There is no word on when a deal is expected to be reached, but at least some lucky Chinese consumers have got their hands-on with the Fire.
