HTC has a tough time last year and they want to get back on track by announcing a new premium handset to blow its rivals’ minds. It’s called HTC One (not HTC M7), what a weird name! Describing the HTC One range of devices are already confusing enough. As expected, the device is powered by a 4.7-inch full HD display with incredible 468ppi, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of internal storage and a 2300mAh battery. HTC One is the first smartphone that has dual front-facing stereo speaker and an “ultrapixel” built-camera, which are something that won’t see in other smartphones yet. Will it become a legend? Check it out after the break…
This seems like is real. In the city of Wuxi in the Jiangsu province of China, drivers are having difficulty to handle and stop their cars on a slippy and icy highway, causing 19-cars crashes into each other one by one on a two lane overpass like riding bumper cars on a fairground.
Talented people are all over the world. In Guangzhou, the capital and largest city of the Guangdong province, it’s stunning to see a hawker that can make a rice noodle roll in several seconds. Normally, it takes several minutes to make this Cantonese dish. Rice noodle roll is one of variety of dim sum, known as “cheong fun ” in Hong Kong and China. It is a thin roll that filled with shrimp, pork, beef, vegetables, or other ingredient, and serves with sweet soy sauce. It’s a famous dish across Asia, and has different taste and making method in different region of Asia. The video embedded here is probably the traditional way of making it.

It was announced at CES along with the 6.1-inch Huawei Ascend Mate. This device will be spreading across the market in China soon, but no words pricing and U.S. availability. We’re hoping there’ll be more details at MWC next month. HTC Butterfly has been selling in China for about a month, but only in black and red color. Finally, the white version HTC Butterfly is ready to be reserved for buyers in the country, which began via the Chinese online retailer 51buy.com yesterday and it has already received over 400,000 orders. It will officially go on sales on the 24th, right before the Chinese New Year, which is available at the same price as the red and black version at ¥4,799 (US$774) without contract. It is cheaper than the Japan version (around US$844), but more expensive than the US version (around US$600). To make things clear, we have a short summary of the difference between J Butterfly, Butterfly and Droid DNA after the break.

This is how much the Russian government hates the fake phones and smuggling. Over 127 units of fake iPhones were confiscated by Russian customs after a Chinese smuggler unsuccessfully proved they were genuine. He got fined for about 65 dollars, and over $36,500 of smuggle goods were executed by an excavator and were burnt in the boiler house in front of a gathered crowd of witnesses, and it was filmed to warn posterity. Can’t they just destroy the fake phones in a more simple way than using the excavator? Video after the break.

[UPDATE] Around 1,000 workers have gone on strike over poor pay, overcrowded accommodation and low quality staff meals at a supplier linked to Foxconn in the city of Fengcheng in southeast China’s Jiangxi province. The industrial action began on Thursday and continued on Friday. “Riot police” was reportedly intervened by using a water cannon as well as physical violence to suppress and arrest demonstrators.

Keeping its date with all the buzz, Huawei launched its first-ever Windows 8 phone after the announcement of its new flagship Ascend D2 and super-sized Ascend Mate Android handsets. It is an entry level Windows phone, power users will look past this handset. The specs would put it in direct competition with Samsung ATIV Odyssey, since many of the specifications are similar. It comes with a 4-inches with 480×800 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory and 5mp rear-facing camera. You should be glad to hear the Huawei Ascend W1 does indeed have a microSD slot. The device also equipped a reasonably sized 1,950mAh battery that should easily get you through days of usage.

Remember ZTE unveiled Nubia Z5 during last Christmas? As it turns out, this ZTE Grand S at CES seems to be the U.S. version of it, although both specs are not exactly the same. ZTE Grand S features 5-inch 1080p display with 440ppi, 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage (with a microSD card slot). As a 5-inch device, it’s just 6.9mm at its thinnest point, the company also labelled it as the “World’s Thinnest”. But apparently, that isn’t true, not even the thinnest one can be seen at CES, as Lenovo also revealed K900 with slim 6.9mm profile. The only special thing that we found on Grand is the 4G LTE, and it seems like it’s the first 5-inch smartphone from China that announced with 4G LTE connectivity at CES this year. More info after the break.

ASUS Qube just sounds about the same as Nexus Q, but it seems to have a better prospect than Google’s own creation. It’s powered by Google TV but with ASUS’s own customization “Qube interface”, which is quite surprising to see since we were expecting the Qube to be the “Nexus” Google TV device. The black diagonal designed Qube will come with some snazzy sounding features, including motion sensing via remote control and voice control for opening apps as well as for surfing the Web and TV channels on a rotating on-screen cube shape inteface. Users will also be able to access to Google Play Store to download games and apps on your TV. And of course, not to miss out, that means it will include over 100,000 TV shows and movies through Google TV, which includes Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, HBO Go and a lot more.
