ZTE had entered the phablet arena with the Grand S device launched at the CES last month. Now, as expected, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has introduced another new phablet, called the Grand Memo that officially made its debut at this year’s Mobile World congress. The ZTE Grand Memo was earlier teased at an event in Hong Kong last month. Measuring 8.3mm, the ZTE Grand Memo sports a 5.7-inch screen with a 720p resolution and comes with Android 4.1.2 on-board. There’s a 13-megapixel rear camera capable of 1080p video recording. Internally, the device is powered by a Qualcomm quad-core processor, clock speed at 1.7GHz. Huawei has been turning headlines lately with its new Android smartphones, but the Chinese network device maker also has a very tiny Android TV box in the works. Its called the Huawei MediaQ M310, and it’s one of the few designed for use with HDTV to feature a quad-core ARM-based processor. The MediaQ M310 is powered by a HiSilicon K3V2 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core chip, which is produced by Huawei itself. It features Vivante GC4000 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. Watch: RockChip New Quad-core Chip Aimed at Mid-range Android Tablets

RockChip, the popular Chinese chip manufacturer, has just showcased their new quad-core chip, the RockChip RK3188 at CES 2013. It is based on ARM Cortex-A9 architecture and is built on 28nm process that would offer less power consumption and better performance. It also has 533MHz Mali-400 MP4 GPU with OpenGL and OpenVG support for gaming. The new chip is aimed to mid range tablets and it will support 2048 x 1536 high resolution displays (retina grade), and 1080p 60 fps multi-format video decoder. There are no details when the chip would be available, but we could expect to get the first tablet device in the market by the next couple of months. In the mean time, a decent 10-inch quad-core Chinese tablet powered by Samsung Exynos 4412 processor will cost 1300 yuan (US$208) in China.

Chinese manufacturer Huawei’s flagship Android device, the Ascend D1 quad has been made available in the company’s online store for 2,699 yuan (US$425). The phone features a quad-core 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 processor, which is a Huawei’s homegrown K3V2 system-on-chip. It also comes with a 4.5-inch Toshiba IPS+ HD display, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. The first batch has already sold out, while a second batch will be shipped within two weeks. Ascend D1 was billed as the “world’s fastest smartphone,” the D1 quad’s production schedule was pushed back by Huawei due to problems of manufacturing their own CPU …

ZTE New Quad-core Smarphone is Selling Cheap in China

ZTE has just released a new quad-core handset in Chinese market. The new Grand Era U985 Android smartphone features a 4.5-inch HD display, scoring a 326 ppi of pixel density. The quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz gives powerful processing performance. It is selling really cheap in China for US$312 (1999 yuan) without contract. Too bad the device only support TD-SCDMA, which is a proprietary 3G network for China Mobile. Grand Era U985 is primarily a China-only handset if you are using 3G radio. The recently announced Xiaomi Phone 2 may have caused the new ZTE handset to set at a lower price with high-end specification. Huawei’s upcoming MediaPad 10.1 is slated to hit the stores in August and to remind consumers about their new product, Huawei has just released a new teaser video showing off the key features of the device. In case you forgot, MediaPad 10.1 features a 1080p HD display, powered by Huawei’s in-house K3 quad-core processor, and run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Hopefully we can see a Jelly Bean upgrade. It will also have an ASUS Transformer-inspired feature: the ability to connect to a keyboard dock which turns it into a touchscreen laptop.

The next generation Xiaomi Phone is coming soon. Some exclusive photos and info have leaked out from Foxconn factories. The MI-2 will boast an improved screen with 720p resolution, and powered by a quad-core processor from Qualcomm. It will feature dual LED flash for the rear camera, but it still doesn’t come with front-facing camera. It has an all new unique back-cover which opens vertically to gain access to the battery and SIM card. This new design will allow user to have different combination of two color tone of their choice. We’re still not too sure whether the new Xiaomi smartphone will support Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, or even the latest mobile Windows OS Windows 8. It is rumored that MI-2 will still manage to cost at a low price of only 1999 yuan (US$313, contract free) and it will be announce next month. Few more pictures after the break.
