
Two months ago, Chinese famous DVD player maker BBK announced Vivo X1, a 6.55mm thin smartphone that took over OPPO Finder as the world’s thinnest smartphone. Today, here is a chance for you to look at the world’s thinnest smartphone meet the thinnest iPhone, and how Vivo X1 rips off iPhone 5’s two-tone back cover.

The year of 2012, Chinese vendors gifted us many great quality smartphones on budget, allowing Chinese consumers to quit reliance on foreign brands like Samsung and Apple. Besides, some of device makers showed their ambition to go international in 2013. As the tech world is readying to talking about the fresh devices for 2013, it’s the time to sit back and look into the ten major handsets in China of last year. Hope you like it.

Oppo has already confirmed the U.S. availability of the 5-inch Find 5 phablet over AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It has added a huge list of the other countries as part of the international availability. The Chinese handset maker, also famous for its Blu-ray Disc players, has also confirmed the 32GB edition of the phablet and its price point. 32GB Find 5 will go for $569 (unlocked and contract-free), while the 16GB was already made official for $499. Oppo will made it available in 17 countries included United States, Canada, UK, Japan and Hong Kong. OPPO is planning to launch Find 5 in China sometime in early January. The international launch is expected to be as close to the Chinese launch. So far 4G LTE connectivity hasn’t been confirmed for this handset. We feel that OPPO should also bring their 4-inch OPPO Finder to international market, it look more attractive than the iPhone 5 !

According to the sources, Vivo X1 will come with an incredibly thin body at just 6.55mm, which seeks to compete against OPPO Finder as the world’s thinnest smartphone. You may have not heard much about Oppo, Oppo is actually a China-based company who has been the champion of the affordable universal disc player. Recently, the company released an Android smartphone called the Oppo Finder, and the phone grabbed the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone, measuring in at 6.65 mm of thickness, and that is 12.5% thinner than Apple’s iPhone 5. We’ve showed you guys the unboxing and hands-on of the Finder, and we admit it’s one sleek looking phone. It’s available in white, and Oppo recently released ad posters to promote its white version of the Oppo Finder. Last week, our editor has been invited to CNN News Stream, which their producing crew and studio is located at Hong Kong, to talk about the rising Chinese smartphones. CNN has requested us to bring 3 Chinese smartphones brands to their show. Meizu, Xiaomi and OPPO have been hand-picked by the producer. CNN has provided the lastest Apple’s iPhone 5 for some comparison. During the iPhone 5 announcment event, Apple was calling their new handset the world’s thinnest smartphone, measured at 7.6mm thick. Well, it showed that Apple has not done too much homework on this. Chinese manufacturer OPPO has their flagship smartphone measured at 6.65 millimeters thin, that is about 1mm thinner than the iPhone 5. While we were on the CNN show, we have shown and present how thin is the Chinese Android phone while comparing to the iPhone 5 …
You may be thinking, how does Apple’s next generation iPhone stack up against some of the good smartphones we’ve seen? Well, you’re about to find out. Compare their size: the iPhone 4S vs. the next generation iPhone vs. Oppo Finder (China’s thinnest smartphone) vs. Galaxy S III. The Oppo Finder is much thinner than the iPhone 5, and the Galaxy S III has a bigger screen. Why Leonardo DiCaprio? Just simply because he’s the spokesman of Oppo. Except the color, the white Oppo Finder has no difference with the black version. But it certainly takes more times and efforts to build, just like the white iPhone. The price of the white Oppo Finder has not been revealed yet, it’s likely to cost a little more than the black, around 2638 RMB (US$425). Oppo will start accepting pre-orders on its online store on Chinese Valentine’s Day, which is the 23rd of August, next Friday! The white Oppo Finder is also known as the “Love Edition”.
