After numerous of delays, Meizu M9 is finally rolling out to the gadget markets of China. Yeah, the Meizu retail store at Beijing, Zhongguancun, is now accepting M9 pre-orders and customers are required to put down a deposit of 200 yuan (about $30) first. According to Meizu CEO Jack Wong, the company is currently getting network license for the M9, a small batch of M9 will be manufactured next week, and the mass production is planned to start in mid-December. Meizu M8 is the strongest iPhone wannabe in China. It has been mimicking the iPhone’s design and features since way back in 2007 and today Meizu is announcing they are stopping sales and shutting down production lines for their M8 smartphone this month. We will no longer see this wonderful M8, and Meizu CEO Jack Wong has something to say:

Of course, we are excited about the Meizu M9 and hoping it to launch sooner, and this might comes true very soon because recently we spotted spyshots of the M9. The photos’ owner claimed, he already got it! He also said, M9 had improved a lot, works as smooth as iPhone.

As we had reported previously, the Meizu M9 is going to bring us with Android 2.2 and a “Retina” Display. We have a Meizu M8 to compare with the old iPhones, and today, the M9 will be the biggest opponent of Apple’s iPhone 4. This is no kidding. Meizu CEO Jack has spilled the latest M9 details, the phone will run fully modified version of Android 2.2, includes a Retina-like 960 x 640 display, powered with a 1GHz processor and brings a bonus feature, 3D graphics acceleration.

Yeah, phones aren’t perfect, especially smartphones. Steve Jobs has showed us that some smartphones have the same attenuation and signal loss issue that the iPhone 4 has. He’s actually right about that. Apparently, the smartphones in the Chinese market are having reception problems, such as the Meizu M8 and Lenovo LePhone…
Maybe this is good news. According to Meizu CEO Jack Wong, third party developers are now welcome to put efforts on the development of the Android OS for M8. This is promised to be handled by the company at first, but due to the big investment on the upcoming Meizu M9, the company has insufficient funds to carry the Android project for the M8 model now. What’s more, sources said the M8 will come with Android 2.1 at September, and maybe dual-booting with its customized Windows Mobile too. [CNMO.com]
