In a bid to tap the booming Chinese box office, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Company has made a co-production deal with Chinese DMG Entertainment, who has throw in money in order to make the Hollywood blockbuster to be filmed in China. By partnering with DMG, which enjoys close working ties with the state-run China Film Group, Disney and Marvel are able to work around Beijing’s tight film-import quota. The movie is scheduled for release on May 3 in the US, the theaters in China will have a simultaneous release, a good news for all Chinese moviegoers. The latest trailer of Iron Man 3 has its own Chinese version in China too, it’s much the same as the international version we have seen during the last few days, just added in a few more footage on the Chinese actor and actress. Hong Kong Disneyland will become the first Disney-owned property to get a full-fledged Marvel themed world. The announcement was made last week in HK, the city’s government which owned 52 percent of the theme park, will add an area featuring “Marvel heroes” as part of the resort’s expansion program. Hong Kong Disneyland, the smallest Disney parks worldwide, has struggled over the years to boost attendance from its key target demographic—tourists from mainland China—many who aren’t enamored enough of Disney characters to make a special trip to the park. The addition of Marvel in Hong Kong will be the first of its kind, and could be a big draw for mainland Chinese tourists after the success of several Hollywood smash-hits that featured Marvel characters, as this could attract older and more affluent visitors …

One year ago, a smart Chinese fellow from ZTE making an ultra-realistic Iron Man Mark I suit with LED bulbs. Today, it’s believed to be the same person who made an Iron Man Mark III’s helmet. The coolest part of this helmet is it has full mobility and pair of glowing eyes. A Chinese company is planning to release gaming mouse features the design of Iron Man’s mask. The simple USB connected mouse comes in three Iron Man appearance and its ‘eyes’ will light up in blue when you are using it. We like the chromium version very much. We are wondering why the classic original red and gold mask is absent from the series (without authorization ? ) . And please, we need a wireless edition too. The producer of the cool gadget is called NEWMEN, a Chinese manufacturer based in Shenzhen. Taiwanese talent Hsu Po-sheng took top place with his “Flairtending” skills and Spiderman outfit at the Asia cocktail competition held in Singapore early this month. Beating contestants from 16 other countries, he brought home the ninth consecutive championship for Taiwan in the “flair” category of the competition. The young boy has appeared in a Spiderman costume for eight years, said he practiced for at least six hours a day over the past six months to prepare for the competition, and added that his coach watched the latest Spiderman movie to help him design the performance. Two Chinese filmmakers have created an awesome Batman stop-motion short film, using highly-realistic 1/6-scale collectible action figures made by Hot Toys, a famous high-end figures company in Hong Kong. The cinematic lighting and sound effects give this film a realism that make you feel like seeing the real actors. This is the duo’s first attempt at making this kind of stop motion film. Good job, we want IRONMAN next !!

The red communist super hero is certainly a knockoff from Marvel Captain America. The superheroes blockbuster The Avengers from Marvel Studios has been firstly launched in Hong Kong today. For fans of superheroes, the movie looks promising with a huge cast. Here we feature a Avengers cosplay group in Hong Kong. They have spend more than hundred thousand dollars (HKD) and a peroid of six months to create 12 custom-made costumes for almost every single roles in the film. They even created a female version of Captain America and a baby Iron Man ! And the group has included some special guest like Spiderman, Wolverine and Iron Man War Machine. The cosplay team has take part in fund raising and events for charities too. Check out the superhero video after the break. The Avengers movie will be in U.S. and Canada theaters on May 4.
Disney and Marvel has announced Iron Man 3 will be co-financed by Chinese company DMG Entertainment, which will be responsible for the distribution of the film and the scenes shot in China. Disney said they will add Chinese elements and a related storyline into Iron Man 3. Will Disney ruin the Iron Man franchise in return for Chinese money and access to Chinese market ?
