Apple’s pulled something of a surprise out its hat with its new Smart Cover for the iPad 2. It is magical, and we wish there’s a knockoff for that pure genius cover. Guess what, we managed to get one from China, and it looks very similar to the original. However, it turns out there is a very unfortunate downside for the Smart Cover knockoff… The video below explains everything.
Today, almost everyone has an iDevice, especially iPhone or iPad. For more fun, Apple provides the App Store, including over 10 billion apps suitable for any age. Yeah, I know there are some parents getting addictive and fun apps and games for kids to keep them busy and distracted anywhere, so maybe this is a reason why we are seeing some fortunate kids in China playing an iPhone or iPad. But seriously, they know how to use a Mac too?
Today is Qingming Festival in China, and this is the most important day for people to offer sacrifice to ancestors. Following the tradition, paper versions of money, fake luxury items, and, yes, consumer electronics are burned as offerings to the dead. Since the most popular gadget so far is Apple’s iPad 2, so people are spending 10 yuan (about $2) to buy it, and burn it. Amazingly, one shopkeeper in Malaysia said his stock of 300 paper iPad 2s sold out quickly, leaving him unable to meet demand.
It’s been a long, long time since we talked about an iPad knockoff. You may ask, why we almost stop reporting those knockoffs, well, we do not see an impressive one which is deserved to appear on our blog. We took some time to search, and here’s the latest one we like, a dual-boot Windows/Android tablet, called the A-97, looks just like the original iPad.
Plants vs. Zombies is a hit game of iPhone. And it now exists as an arcade cabinet!!! It allows four people at most to participate together in the game, using joystick to control a plant turret to shoot the zombies as they walk, hop and fly back and forth. THIS IS AMAZING!!! Don’t miss the video after the break!
Would Apple dominate the world in the future? Well, we don’t know. But this video tells us that a new iPhone, ‘iPhone 44G’, will be revealed in the year 2041. And everyone will be using it as a shaver, hair blower, saw, cigarette pack, lighter, or a gun. Bloody awesome. Video after the break.
The iPad 2 is here, and the original iPad is now $100 cheaper. They could have been the photographers best friend but, the lack of integrated card reader & USB somehow affect a photographer’s workflow. Apple provides a Camera Connection Kit for them, it works great with two dongles — Camera Connector & SD Card Reader, but for professional photographers who are using a Canon 5D Mark II or Nikon D3s, they need a CF card reader. So, here we have the world’s first CF card reader for iPad & iPad 2. Video review after the break. Oh, we found out that the 3-in-1 Camera Connection Kit supports iPad 2!
Steve Jobs did not announce an official release date for the iPad 2 in Hong Kong, but residents can buy them at retail – for a premium, just two days after the iPad 2 launches in the U.S. You will be shocked, a 16GB Wi-Fi model costs about $7,900 Hong Kong Dollars (around $1014) in the gray market, that’s about twice the U.S. price!!!
UPDATE: Video! And more information!
This is insanely cheap for an iPad alike Android tablet, so what does it packed with? Where can you buy it from? Check out the specs after the jump.
I know everyone is talking about the iPad 2, but we still like to provide some news on other tablets. Here’s the Lenovo LePad, which first appeared in CES 2010, getting a hands-on treatment at Chinese tech site PConline. We are not really interested, until we see the LePad gets sized up side-by-side with an original iPad. Oh, and some videos showing how the LePad works.
