
Chinese pirates have taken downloading cracked iPhone and iPad apps to the next new level. A new desktop software called “KuaiYong” (literally means “use quickly” in Chinese) will allows pirated iOS apps to be installed on non-jailbroken devices. It has been around on Chinese internet world since June 2012, being only in Chinese seems to have caused the software to go under Apple’s radar for so long. KuaiYong is basically using bulk enterprise licensing to bypass Apple’s safeguards. So the Chinese service is essentially distributing the exact same app – with the same license ID – over and over again. And now the same team has launched a web version of its pirate iOS app store. The online store is full of pirated iOS apps and games available for free. It makes the service more accessible to potential new users who can browse the available apps in their web browser. To download one of the iOS apps or games from the site, it’s actually downloading the “KuaiYong” PC software …

Apple authorized service providers in China have not implemented the company’s revised after-sales policies, and some have publicly opposed them. Apple promised that all repairs to faulty devices will be carried out using new parts and repaired devices will offer a new 1-year warranty from the service date. The new policies have met a mixed reception from those who have to carry out the work, however, one major reason being that there is a serious over-demand for phone repairs. Apple currently has only eight directly run maintenance points located in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Shenzhen. Due to the limit of Apple Stores in the country, it has further authorized more than 500 maintenance points in over 270 China cities. According to Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty, China is expected to sell as many as 40 million iPhone in 2013 alone, which means one maintenance point in China is serving nearly 80,000 users. Among the expected 40 million new iPhone users, it still doesn’t include the large number of devices from grey market …

According to the statistics from pod2g’s iOS blog, Internet users in China are the top visitors of the Web site offering jailbreak tool, evasi0n, followed by the United States and France. Nearly 3 million Internet users from China visited the site, accounting for 20.12 percent of visitors. The country with the second-most number of visitors was the United States with 2.5 million users, contributing to 16.88 percent of traffic. The popularity of evasi0n jailbreak is tremendous. Within the first 10 minutes of released last week, it saw over 100,000 downloads. And now it had crossed the 1.7 million mark. China is widely seen to have a high software piracy rate, though the government has been working hard to improve intellectual property rights protection. It is to believe the piracy of desktop software will slowly reduced, the unhealthy practice may now shift to mobile sector …

Google’s Android platform has taken more than 70% share of the global smartphone market. In the Chinese market, it owned more than 90% of China’s smartphone market, which is up from 58.2% in third-quarter of 2011. The increase in percentage is because there’re more Chinese companies focuses on making smartphone over the year and China’s homegrown smartphone makers (Such as Xiaomi, Meizu and OPPO) are getting more reliable and recognizable.

China’s homegrown smartphone brand Xiaomi is increasingly looking like Apple. After the launch of Xiaomi Mi-Two, the company has announced the release of its latest product — Xiaomi Box. It’s a set top box that looks very alike to Apple TV, but offers at a very tempting price. Although China has a flood of cheap Android TV dongles and set-top boxes , Xiaomi Box is still arguably competitive.

Recently, we found a bunch of photos on Sina Weibo showing Apple iOS, Google Android and Windows 8 installed on Nikon and Canon DSLRs as well as Ricoh DC. The photo above claimed it is a Canon 5D Mark III running iOS. Do you think that’s true? More photos after the break.

Xiaomi, the China’s hottest smartphone company, has just released a radio-control toy car for Android smartphone and Apple’s i-devices. Xiaomi first Android smartphone, the MI-One, has sold more than 3 million and counting. The phone is red-hot in China right now. The company latest toy gadget is in red-hot color too. Xiaomi provides a dedicated app to control the car, it uses wifi signal, and the controlling distance can reach up to 20 meters. It’s a 4-wheel-drive buggy with independent suspension, comes with full ball bearing, the size is slightly larger than your Apple keyboard. The internal battery can run for about 30 minutes, it can be recharge through USB cable …

At WWDC keynote on Monday, Apple announced they will be adding Baidu as an additional search engine option for iOS users in China, while Google remains as the default search engine outside of China. This new feature can be seen in iOS 6. In this deal, Apple will be benefited with a cut of Baidu’s advertising revenue. The terms of revenue sharing agreements will be similar to other Chinese smartphone makers who provide built-in Baidu search.
Eguan (a leading data research company in China) has published marketshare data for smartphone operating system in China in the first quarter of 2012. According to the data provided, Android is still on the rise – and it’s a fairly steady climb from 68.4% up to 76.7%. On the other hand, Symbian smartphone market share has decreased, and iOS came behind Symbian.
