Taiwan smartphone giant HTC is planning to open more retail outlets in China by increasing the current 630 stores up to 2,000 by the end of this year. Apparently, this pace is to strengthen their competitiveness in China in order to compete with the world’s smartphone giant, Apple Inc.
Ok guys, here we got a Windows Phone 7 knockoff. Yup, it looks something like… Samsung Omnia 7, and guess what, it is HTC branded… Umm, HTC, someone is using your brand name illegally…
The HTC HD7 clone unlike the original one, no question that is less powerful, but it is still acceptable for basic mobile phone users. Things you have to know is it doesn’t have a very fast processor, unable to record 720p HD video, and it won’t run Windows Phone 7. So, please do not expect it is going to be fantastic.
Taobao (淘宝网) is the largest and the most successful online shopping platform in China operated by Alibaba Group. And the company has announced its best selling smartphones on their platform. In the meantime, it gives you some ideas of what kind of smartphone does Chinese like to buy.

Looks like we have a new member in the smartphone family. Introducing WoPhone, an entirely new OS built around the Linux core, and it’s geared toward mobile handsets and tablets. With this Linux-based WoPhone platform, China Unicom is planning to work with major handset makers to build devices using the new OS. Companies including ZTE, Huawei, TCL, Samsung, Motorola, and HTC are supporting the great idea.
This is the first time that I have seen a shanzhai website that copied in very detail, looking magically close as the HTC China official site, selling same products with the same model names, except the specs are not identical as suppose. The fake site even clearly stated how to define knockoff products. Is this their way to make their site looking true?
Still remember HTC Touch Diamond 2? It was released last year, and it’s powered by Windows Mobile 6.1. Today, the knockoff makers bring it back to us with Android 2.2. It may work much more better than the original.
Android 2.1 finally arrived to the Shanzhai HTC G3 Hero, which the Shanzhai version is getting closer to the original. Even more, it gets a capacitive touch screen with Multi-Touch supported, based on MTK 6516 platform plus a storage of 256/512 MB. More shots and a hands-on video present after the break.
First of all, this tablet is “Gpad 701″, a Shanzhai tablet favours the look of HTC smart-phones and iPad user interface. Take a deep look at the interface, it is only a trick that did by Android. The Gpad is supporting 1080p video playback and external 3G network, such as WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, EVDO.
We spotted a knockoff iPhone 4 supports Multi-Touch just a few days ago. Equally, this Shanzhai HTC G6 also infused this technique.
