New Computer Parts have being Dumped in China Landfill

A report has being found out the e-waste that are dumping into China’s landfill has contained not just old computers and gadgets from consumers around the world, but also nearly-new but defective items from HP, Samsung, and Panasonic, as well as electronics that returned to manufacturers for warranty repair. The find was made by Adam Minter, author of the Shanghai Scrap blog, in a visit to the notorious Chinese e-waste recycling hub of Guiyu. The landfill in Guiyu, which located at southern China’s Guangdong province, is the largest electronic waste site on earth. A roughly estimated one million tons of e-waste have being shipped there per year … Update: Samsung has responded on the incident

7-inch HP TouchPad Leaks Out in China

Looks like the HP TouchPad’s legacy continues… Today, we see a mysterious tablet that is called the HP TouchPad Go. It’s found in China, and the images came via a Chinese forum. The 7-inch tablet claimed to be an engineering prototype device, and it has a 4:3 aspect ratio, packing 16GB storage, 3G capability, front-and-rear camera, a 1.5GHz processor and even NFC smarts. HP Executive Talks About The China Market (video)

Todd Bradley, HP’s Personal System Group head and former Palm executive, told Sina, the largest Chinese-language infotainment web portal, that the company would look for partners around the world to adopt webOS. Bradley also talked about the company’s future plans in the China market, and added his belief that he does not need to sign up a Twitter account, or a Sina Weibo account. HP Unveils TouchPad in Shanghai (with video!)

Here’s a little surprise, HP held a press event “A New HP World” in Shanghai yesterday, unveiling new products such as the WebOS tablet TouchPad and the Pre 3. In the event, HP announced that China will be the first country in Asia to retail the TouchPad later this year, with the rest of Asia to follow at a later date. Sadly, pricing is still unknown.
