A Chinese multi-channel digital satellite TV and IPTV channel service based in Hong Kong have chosen a strange way to promo the upcoming UEFA Euro 2012 tournament. They have made a Cantonese song MTV with animation, showing the London Big Ben is crashing down and being bombed, the Eiffel Tower in Paris is falling to the ground, Rome’s Colosseum in flames and there are soldiers firing live rounds on the pitch, not to mention helicopters ! A Hong Kong 12 years-old high school girl had been caught for smuggling a total of 30 iPhones to Shenzhen China. The young girl looked like a regular student wearing school uniform but did not carry any school bag. When she passed through the customs regulatory site, she was much nervous unlike other students. The superheroes blockbuster The Avengers from Marvel Studios has been firstly launched in Hong Kong today. For fans of superheroes, the movie looks promising with a huge cast. Here we feature a Avengers cosplay group in Hong Kong. They have spend more than hundred thousand dollars (HKD) and a peroid of six months to create 12 custom-made costumes for almost every single roles in the film. They even created a female version of Captain America and a baby Iron Man ! And the group has included some special guest like Spiderman, Wolverine and Iron Man War Machine. China Mobile, the world’s largest phone company by users, plans to begin fourth-generation wireless service in Hong Kong this month. China Mobile will become the second operator to offer 4G in the Special Administrative Regions. The high-speed service, based on LTE technology, offers maximum download speeds of 100 megabits a second, or as much as 50 times quicker than 3G. The service lets users download games and videos on their phones at the fastest speeds available as operators compete for users in a city where the number of mobile customers is twice the population. Hong Kong had 15.1 million mobile-phone users as of January, according to the city’s Office of the Communications Authority. Its population stood at 7.1 million at the end of last year …
The Hong Kong design student Jonathan Mak Long once again draws attention. Graham Fink, the chief creative officer of Ogilvy & Mather China, recently tracked down Jonathan and given him an assignment with a simple brief ‘Sharing a Coke’. Then, he came up with an impressive design shown above and it was subsequently being used as a new outdoor executions in Shanghai. The ad is now part of Coca-Cola’s ongoing global ‘Open Happiness’ campaign.
Chinese customs authorities have detained 14 suspects in connection with a smuggling case that involved about 400 million yuan (US$63.5 million) worth of photographic and video equipment. Officers at Gongbei Customs, Zhuhai City, south China’s Guangdong Province, said the smuggling ring has already transported more than 60,000 cameras from Hong Kong to Guangdong from January 2011 to February 15, 2012. They have also smuggled 13,623 professional and consumer lenses, 483 flashlight and 1,025 video cameras …
To celebrate the launch of Angry Birds Space, Rovio and partners hosted a series of launch events for fans of the Angry Birds game in Beijing, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Seattle and Tokyo. In Hong Kong, the launching ceremony for the new game was held at Sky 100 — an observation deck on the 100th floor of Hong Kong’s tallest building. So the new iPad went on sale last Friday morning in Hong Kong as scheduled. This time, the army of frenzied fans and long queues were lacking as Apple had implemented an online ‘iReserve’ system, scheduling registered buyers throughout the day to discourage scalpers from targeting the new iPad. Outside Apple’s store, dozens of ‘hopefuls’ had queued for days, and local police has made an efforts to disperse them before the opening sales. One of the Hong Kong film producing company recently announced the plans to release a 4D adult film after the successful of its 3D adult film across Asia last year. The producer got an idea of having moviegoers watch the film in cinema with the added sensation of a vibrating seat which would bring more excitement to the viewers.
