Apple’s Chinese New Year Gift Guide just went live as part of the online Apple Store in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. More info after the break.

Pre-orders for the iPad mini went live at 3 in the afternoon and they seemingly went like hotcakes. Just within two minutes, all the iPad mini’s pre-orders were sold out on Apple Online Store in Hong Kong. How is this suppose to sell out within just a few minutes? It is unreasonable. Hong Kong seems to be a special case while Apple is still accepting pre-orders in other countries. What happen with Hong Kong Apple online store?
Update: Hong Kong is the latest region that Apple starts accepting pre-orders of iPad Mini. Pre-order an iPad mini here.
Alight, it looks like Apple continues to work to deter scalpers and lineups in China. Apple is sticking to a recent reservation system for the China launch of the new iPad. According to Apple’s website, shoppers will be able to register starting the morning of the 19th local time, and pick up an iPad the next day at the retail stores in Beijing and Shanghai. Unfortunately, Apple only accept a limited amount of reservations each day, and customers who fail to receive one will have to try again another day. Yeah, it’s a lottery again.
Previously, Hong Kong was gripped by iPhone 4S fever as more than 1,000 fans and scalpers queued outside the Apple store to buy Apple’s latest smartphone. In order to stop the incidents of repeated violence over sales of the iPhone 4S, Apple has recently implemented a new system to fight those pesky scalpers, and the new system makes the scalping business very difficult.
Remember we previously talked about how Apple online store pre-order system messed up when iPhone 4S on sale in Hong Kong. So did you know how scalpers order iPhone so quickly? They don’t have incredibly fast typing speed to insert their personal details and credit numbers actually, but rather using an automated booking program.
iPad 2 is finally available in Hong Kong today! Long lines are generated outside reseller stores while it’s raining heavily… Some customers even waited in line for over 12 hours. Awesome. Video and lots of photos after the break!!!
UPDATE: More videos!
Finally, the wait is over. Apple is finally launching the iPad 2 in Hong Kong and China. Hong Kong Apple fanboys will be able to purchase the iPad 2 this coming Friday through Apple online store and authorized resellers. As for China, the Wi-Fi model will be available on May 6th, no words on the 3G model yet, maybe Apple is still getting a license for that? Next, the white iPhone 4. Apple has finally announced it will release the white iPhone 4 tomorrow around the world, including Hong Kong and China. You can get them with 2 year contract and if you hate to be tied with a silly contract, you can head to the Apple online store and grab it with contract-free.

Remember how Hong Kong iPhone 4 users earned big profits by reselling their iPhones to the gray market dealers? Well, that crazy scalping business somehow maintained for 8 months, since Apple intermittently suspended sales of the iPhone 4 in the region, presumably in response to incredible demand. Today, surprisingly, iPhone 4 supply stabilizes in Hong Kong, and the popular smartphone is now regularly available on the Apple online store in Hong Kong, with wait times of 1–3 business days. That’s not good news for scalpers.
