Sony has officially unveiled its first smartphone to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich about two months ago, and it is expected to show up nowhere else but China. The phone is named Sony Xperia Neo L, it is the successor to the Neo V. However, it does not bring major hardware enhancements. Check out more details after the break.

Huawei’s Ascend P1, which was first unveiled at CES, has already gone on sale in China. The thin and sexy new phone is selling for 2900 yuan (US$455) in Chinese market, without a contract. Price isn’t cheap consider it has only 4GB of internal memory, you are properly paying for the gorgeous screen and sleek design. The Ascend P1 powered by a dual-core processor (TI OMAP 4460 chip) and run the latest Android 4.0 ICS. It features a 4.3 inch qHD (960 x 540) super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, and the thickness measured at 7.69mm. Other feathures included 1.3MP front-facing camera, 8MP rear camera with full HD video recording, dual-LED flashes and micro SD card slot. Ascend P1 will comes in three color, black, white, and pink. In the wake of many new and chunky Windows 8 hybrid devices, Android has been quiet at Computex this year. Acer actually had a few Android tablets displayed at their booth, and they are the Iconia Tab A110 and A210. The Acer Iconia A110 is remarkable. It is a 7-inch Android tablet and it is priced as cheap as Amazon’s Kindle Fire, but it offers better hardwares like having a Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Previously, Lenovo has teased us a new tablet on its YouTube channel. The new slate is now available online in US market. The IdeaTab S2109 is running the aging dual-core, 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor with OS Android 4.0. It has a 9.7-inch 4:3 aspect ratio IPS display (1024 x 768 pixel), which is similar to Apple’s iPad 2. Other main features we have 1GB memory, 8GB/16GB/32GB internal storage, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, SRS Trumedia speakers, micro HDMI and micro SD slot. The thickness of the slate measured 8.9mm and weighted at 1.3-pound (589 grams), price starts at $329.00 (2095 yuan). We believe some consumer may appreciate the low price, but some Android apps, especially games, do not support well on 4:3 ratio screen. A 16GB iPad 2 is selling for $399 right now. So what is your choice ?
The iPhone is 9.3mm thin. The Galaxy S II is 8.45mm thin. The Droid RAZR is 7.1mm thin. The Huawei Ascend P1 S is 6.68mm thin. So everything they’ve learned has come down to this: a 6.65mm-thin Android smartphone released by a Chinese domestic mobile phone brand called Oppo. At Nvidia’s annual meeting of investors last week, the Taiwanese chipmaker revealed the idea of a new platform called ‘Kai’, it isn’t just a piece of hardware, but a plan to democratize its quad-core Tegra 3 system-on-chip. Nvidia wants to offer Android 4.0 tablets that are more powerful than the Kindle Fire at the same price point. Nvidia will use cheaper DDR3L memory for this new platform and also the DirectTouch and Prism low-power display technologies which the company has developed. Chinese companies are rushing to build their own mobile phone operating systems based on Google’s Android platform. The companies include up-and-coming Chinese mobile phone makers Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo and Xiaomi, and internet service portals like Tencent, Baidu and Alibaba. Most have outsourced their Android projects to a Chinese company called ArcherMind, which based at Nanjing city, the capital of Jiangsu province in China. ArcherMind is one of the largest Chinese companies devoted to develop Android-based software, they are the software engineers team behind the Android’s face-changed in China …

Lenovo has unveiled a new tablet over on its YouTube channel. The new Lenovo IdeaTab S2019 doesn’t have a full spec sheet officially confirmed, but it’s likely that it will be oriented towards the mid-range market. Most interestingly, it comes with a 9.7-inch 4:3 aspect ratio display which is similar to Apple’s iPad. Most of the Ice Cream Sandwich tablet from the mainstream brand usually provides a display at 16:9 aspect ratio.
