I think the installation of voice and video recorders in taxis is totally unacceptable. Taxis in Beijing, Chongqing, and Wuhu are bugged with a device combining global positioning and camera, which somehow makes passenger feels uncomfortable for being watched all the time. The device can be activated remotely, or when a driver switched on the taximeter. The remote control works at any time and without the driver’s knowledge, for a live listen and watch into any one of the city’s cabs.
