
Leading European electronics retailer Media Markt is opening its first Asian store in China this month, November 17. The first Media Markt China store will open in Shanghai, it will expand to 9-11 stores in several cities of China by the end of 2011. Foxconn is their local joint venture partner, both companies teamed up in a US$200 million joint venture, president Terry Guo and Metro CEO Eckhard Cordes have just attended an opening ceremony this week in Shanghai.

Apple’s new online store in China is not only the easiest way to shop online for Apple products, but also the best way for scalpers to get iPhone 4. So, the scalpers just won’t quit. First they caused the Beijing Apple store to close. Next they force Apple to triple the store’s security. Now China online Apple store stated that the iPhone 4 has been sold out, within 10 hours. You have to blame the scalpers for this.
If you’re visiting Shenzhen, better leave your iPad at home – unless you’re willing to pay tax for the device. An American-Chinese man said he was charged duty by Shenzhen customs officials at the Lowu border recently for an iPad he had been using for months. To prevent his iPad getting confiscated, he paid 1,000 yuan (about $150) sadly.
