
Xiaomi, the smartphone cult hero in China, is keen to bring its phones to other market region. According to the latest updates on the company’s Twitter feed and Facebook group, the Xiaomi Phone 2 will be hitting Hong Kong and Taiwan very soon. The image that accompanied the tweet lists a few of the key specs of its newest Xiaomi Phone 2, all written in traditional Chinese script, which is used in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The company may partner with Telecoms operator in Taiwan, whereas in Hong Kong it may utilize the same old online direct sale model. If Xiaomi is indeed launching in Hong Kong and Taiwan, then it must be confident that it has enough stock to ship to these region – despite their small markets size. But due to the overwhelming demand of Qualcomm’s 28nm chipsets throughout the year, it’s unlikely that Xiaomi can proceed its original plan in time.

Oppo has already confirmed the U.S. availability of the 5-inch Find 5 phablet over AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It has added a huge list of the other countries as part of the international availability. The Chinese handset maker, also famous for its Blu-ray Disc players, has also confirmed the 32GB edition of the phablet and its price point. 32GB Find 5 will go for $569 (unlocked and contract-free), while the 16GB was already made official for $499. Oppo will made it available in 17 countries included United States, Canada, UK, Japan and Hong Kong. OPPO is planning to launch Find 5 in China sometime in early January. The international launch is expected to be as close to the Chinese launch. So far 4G LTE connectivity hasn’t been confirmed for this handset. We feel that OPPO should also bring their 4-inch OPPO Finder to international market, it look more attractive than the iPhone 5 !

[UPDATE] Chinese smartphone sales are soaring right now and the country is set to surpass the US as the world’s largest smartphone market. Sino-Mr, a leading Chinese market research company, reveal that Chinese branded mobile phones (include 2G features phone and 3G smartphones) had captured over 70 percent of the domestic market share in terms of sales volume by the end of November. It means more and more Chinese consumers are willing to buy domestic phones. A total of 24.59 million mobile phones were sold in China in November, several brands reported a month-on-month growth of within 0.5 percentage points. The data also show us that 11.65 million mobile phones were sold through the telecoms operators …

Acer is planning to launch a 7-inch super cheap tablet next month (CES 2013 ? ) called the Iconia B1, as the Taiwanese PC maker looks to expand its reach in the handheld market. According to the Wall Street Journal, Acer Iconia B1 will come with a very low price tag. Going head to head with the likes of the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Acer is so-say planning on stealing the show by offering the Iconia B1 for just US$99 (616 yuan). The small tablet device will pack a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display – neither of which matches the power and output of its closest rivals …

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was first released about two months ago and it is very popular in Asia and Chinese market. But apparently some ‘Shanzhai’ manufacturers in China has decided to clone the Korean device. Previously, we already have a knockoff Galaxy SIII, for now Chinese consumer can buy a brand new Galaxy Note 2 knockoff in China for just about $140. [UPDATE] OPPO unveiled the Oppo Find 5, the company latest entry in the high-end smartphone territory. The Find 5 most striking feature is the 1080p LCD display that boasts an amazing 441ppi pixel density. That’s the same resolution and pixel density as the display of the HTC Droid DNA/Butterfly. Similar to the Xiaomi Mi2 launch this summer, OPPO’s launch was held in the 798 arts district in Beijing. The event, which took place at a art center, included more than 500 attendees. We attended the launch event, and got up a close look with the new full HD phablet device. It was a nobby launch event that was quite impressive, the Chinese handset maker seem to has an ambitions to become a recognized player in the international market…

Smartphone makers are getting insane of making 5-inch smartphone with 1080p display, so it should come as no surprise that China’s ZTE is, too. Call it “Nubia Z5″. It’s pretty similar to HTC Butterfly (known as HTC Droid DNA in U.S.) and Oppo Find 5 that opted a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdrago S4 Pro APQ8064 chipset and 2GB of RAM. Rumors are saying ZTE’s Nubia Z5 will have a slim chassis measured at 7.6mm in thickness, meaning it should be thinner than OPPO Find 5 and HTC Butterfly! Isn’t that exciting?

Two month ago, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC announced a new high-end smartphone for Japan market, the HTC J Butterfly (known as HTC Droid DNA in U.S.), and it seems that it is getting ready to release it in China too. HTC plans to take the iPhone 5 head on with this flagship phablet, setting the launch date of the smartphone to earlier than the new Apple smartphone in China, where it is scheduled to be released on Dec. 14. The 5-inch HD smartphone’s specs are said to be better than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Note II, which is wildly popular in Asia. It is considered a key tool for the Taiwanese company to expand its global market share for the fourth quarter this year, especially for the Chinese market …
