Finally, there’s a magazine talking about M.I.C gadget. We have appeared on lots of famous websites such as Engadget and Gizmodo, and now, we are in Shanghai entertainment monthly magazine, That’s Shanghai. They ran a feature on Blog Watch and asked me to be up for an interview, talking about this site and how the Foxconn contents involved have lead to M.I.C getting all the traffic and getting cited in international news. Haha, I’m glad to explain the whole thing. (Interview here)

The interview is just a half-page article on M.I.C gadget in this months edition of That’s Shanghai – a Shanghai magazine (English-based) covering local events and entertainment. I am rather pleased n happy ^^; So, this article covers my blog life, M.I.C gadget, my assistants, the traffic of this site, and our future. Most interestingly, I talked about my miserable life during the Foxconn suicide story. Let me show you some of the Q n A’s
Q: What month exactly did MIC Gadget start?
A: I started M.I.C gadget at May 25, 2009, and it’s still under preparation (building up content) at that time. Actually, I got the idea from the weirdy awesome gadgets I have seen during my shopping at the gadget malls in Shenzhen. After that, I decided to open a blog to introduce these made-in-china tech stuff.
Q: Did you have to spend a lot of time working on the FoxConn suicide story? Were you in rush?
A: My brother and I spent every minute in front of our PCs, by taking turns for day and night, we just can’t take any rest. I was even updating some new suicides through my iPod touch when I was out for lunch, at KFC. It’s quite horrible. There’s one midnight when I was still awake, another suicide happened. I felt sad for the tragedy but I quickly post it on M.I.C, to let my readers know what’s really happening now since there’s not much sites handling the latest updates.
Q: Tell me about what the whole thing (blogging the suicide story) was like.
A: It started from the undercover report, to more suicide jumps, and finally the public apology from Foxconn. We were translating every single piece of Chinese updates to English, and doing our very best to provide the “Foxconn Hell Factory” portal to international readers.
Q: What’s your maximum number of hits for one day during the FoxConn thing?
A: The site has got 265,294 hits for the Foxconn suicide story, mostly from the undercover report.
Q: How about your overall record for one-day hits?
A: 966,130 hits for a day, and that comes from the white iPhone 4 box leak…
Q: What gadgets are you using? Do you use a knockoff product?
A: Nah, no knockoffs. We only reviewed the MacBook Air and iPhone 4 knockoffs. We are just using PCs to update the blog.

This is the first time for M.I.C to appear in a magazine, and I’m so happy to see That’s Shanghai’s twitter stating, “M.I.C Gadget, the best source of English-language China tech news written by a teen”. I’m looking forward to show up on more media stuff, and keep on running this blog as long as I can. Dear readers, what expectations do you have on M.I.C gadget?
