Well, looks like someone has said NO to Chinese manufacturers. India has refused to import telecommunications equipment from Chinese companies, a “blacklist” has recently released, big names like Lenovo, Huawei and ZTE are all inside the list, making up a total of 25 companies to be banned from India. This ban will directly affect the orders of Chinese communications equipment manufacturers. For example, in 2009, India contributed about 1.4 billion U.S. dollars to Huawei’s global revenue, and India became Huawei’s most important overseas market in Asia.

In fact, the news of the Indian government’s ban on Chinese equipment manufacturers appeared long ago, but the message was always complicated and confusing. Chinese equipment manufacturers have not been officially notified by the Indian government. But the Chinese enterprises hope to participate in the construction of the Indian telecom market and willing to cooperate with the security review. Indians believe that the Chinese could be embedding malware in networking equipment and using it to monitor phone conversations and possibly bring down a network. The government has also required all service providers in the country to submit details of the equipment used, and their applications will have to get security clearance from the home ministry.
So India versus made-in-China. India’s telecom market will soon enter a new round of expansion, in such a crucial time, a blacklist against China’s equipment manufacturers would sure to affect their revenues and profits.
