Chinese Government Creating Their Own Search Engine

Google.cn is no longer alive, and here we have a new born search engine in China, Goso.cn. It’s proudly launched by The People’s Daily, and also called as “People’s Search Engine”. Well, it claimed that it provides trusted search results and it’s born to be an authoritative Chinese search engine. We’ve tried to search some stuff, but we found out that there’s still no free search policy with it…

According to techblog86, if you are searching for some sensitive political stuff, take the Tian’anmen incident as example, you get unrelated search results if you’re searching in China. Also, if you’re outside China, you get your connection to Goso.cn cut. We’ve tried out the search engine in China and Hong Kong, and it’s exactly like what techblog86 says, it’s a censored search engine.

Google has tried to enter the Chinese market, but due to political reasons, it failed to do so. Baidu, the ultimate Chinese search engine, is still standing strong while dominating almost the whole Chinese search market, will never go down since it’s always listening to the orders from the Chinese government. As for the rookie Goso.cn, it’s just a matter of time to let Chinese netizens to depend on it, as a second choice if one can’t find what he wants through Baidu.

P.S. Goso.cn is still in beta mode.
