Seriously Apple, if you were really concerned at all, you will use another supplier … just like fairtrade practices, you do not go to suppliers who don't treat their staff well. This is one way to force foxconn to look after their employees. Without this, there is no motivation for them to look after their employees ~

Let's face it, Foxconn employees are already relatively well paid by Chinese standards, so any extar bleeding-heart splurge by Apple will increase that differential, thus increasing the pressure on all good Foxconn employees to keep their jobs, thus creating more…….well I think you see the picture.

End of line is that ex-patriating manuf. distorts local conditions, thereby introducing social stress. If the iPad is so damn good then why not pay the price to produce in/near the destination market.
