Foxconn Spokesman Liu Kun

The 21min TV show has in-depth coverage on the Foxconn’s suicide tragedy. Inside the interview, Foxconn official media Spokesman Liu Kun has admitted that the management has loopholes, but facing the huge number of 420,000 employees in Shenzhen factory, and as for why the spate of such incidents; how to avoid similar incidents from occurring, he also seemed to be helpless. Here are the main highlights :

“Regarding on this 7th jump , We are very pleased to see, we have put in our best efforts, we had done some pre-assessment and made pre-intervention.” (3.58min to 4.06min)

“Are you really in the place to prevent (the suicide tragedy)? Really touches the hearts of every single one amoung the 42 million workers? As an industry, we have no ability to do this, but we do not know what’s the reason behind the 8th jump.” (6.30min to 6.45min)

Victim’s sister Ma Li Qun

And one of the victim’s sister has also commented on Foxconn. Ma Li Qun, she is the sister of Ma Xiang Qian (previous worker from Foxconn, who has claimed that he committed suicide during January this year, he’s the first victim of the “10 jumps” tragedy), has quit her job from Foxconn after his brother’s tragedy. Here’s what she said in the TV show :

“What I have to say, the regulations on Foxconn’s employee handbook and their management requirements, those are very good, but for the workers from the lower level is a mess, their management is a mess.” (13.35min to 14.55min)

“Life is hard for our workers from the lower level, we are just like machines working everyday, you can say that we are trained to become a machine, the management does not respect our employees’s self-esteem, some time things are not working out we will get scold, scolding on you just become very normal.” (14.00min to 14.25min)

For no doubt, the require management inside Shenzhen Foxconn is unhealthy, and they seemed to be helpless. They want to avoid similar incidents, but now they have reached number 10 jump, which happened today. Workers keep on jumping down from the building and killed themselves, and Foxconn said that they are very pleased to see they have put in their best efforts to made pre-intervention !?
WTF … Foxconn really have to reorganize what they want to tell the media and the public, hey, be convincing please, this is regarding about life and death! And regarding about the human working machines, the workers in the production lines sure to have some serious conflict with the upper management, so if problem are not solve, we still get a high chance to see more workers commit suicide. Can Foxconn bring us more happy workers to assemble our iProducts, just like the iPhone girl in 2008? (anyone remember?) [CCTV]
