Watch This Talented Hawker Making Rice Noodle Roll In The Speed Of Light

Talented people are all over the world. In Guangzhou, the capital and largest city of the Guangdong province, it’s stunning to see a hawker that can make a rice noodle roll in several seconds. Normally, it takes several minutes to make this Cantonese dish. Rice noodle roll is one of variety of dim sum, known as “cheong fun ” in Hong Kong and China. It is a thin roll that filled with shrimp, pork, beef, vegetables, or other ingredient, and serves with sweet soy sauce. It’s a famous dish across Asia, and has different taste and making method in different region of Asia. The video embedded here is probably the traditional way of making it.

The video is totally sped up. 1) Steam is rising way too quickly. 2) when the woman pours new liquid on the pan, it spreads across the pan way too quickly, 3) people in the distances are walking too quickly. Only the people close to the man and moving close to normal speeds, probably acting slower so that the video can be sped up to make him look even faster than he is.

No, Sherlock. The video is at normal speed. The steam is not “rising” it is being forced out of the steam oven – that is how they work. The noodle mixture is not pancake mixture, it is a thin mixture behaving perfectly normally when being poured onto a hot surface. If you have ever seen people trying to move slowly so they appear at normal speed when video is sped up, you would know how artificial it looks. The reason these people are acting naturally at normal speed is because that is how it was filmed.

      Spare us your amateur sleuthing.

Joel is right, you are wrong

I’m with Sherlock, the guy is fast but I think it is slightly sped up. The people don’t move naturally, particularly the lady in purple

Nigel, the name is Joel, not Sherlock, but thanks for the direct comparrison to the world’s smartest detective. :) Regardless, I teach film studies, graphic design, and animation. This video is “alterred”. With that said, the man is still very fast.

It does look sped up a little however he is still fast at it.

  • the truth

video is sped up, this was a waste of time

  • Sim

I think that this is about 12 frames per second played at 25

When watching the people in the background I wouldn’t say it seems sped up. Their movements seem totally normal, even when their heads move while he’s working. I doubt someone would go through enough trouble to clip them out just to speed up this guy making some food.

Just put your hand over the cook and watch the people the side, its clearly playing at normal speed..

  • baboo

    totally sped up

  • sancholibre

it’s clearly at normal speed. look at every audio-visual cue and you will be able to tell right away.

  • sancholibre
