When HTC introduced the 5-inch 1080p display J-Butterfly, it was clear this would be the new high-spec standard for 2013, replacing the widely used 4.7-inch 720p screen. The latest company to join the party is ZTE (again …), they seems to be quite eager to unveil that Grand S beast smartphone. So much so in fact that the company jumped the gun and spilled some beans on its upcoming FHD 5-inch device ahead of its CES debut. ZTE says it will be the slimmest device at the party, measured at only 6.9-millimeter. The ZTE Z753, as it’s also known, is rumored to feature a quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera and run on Jelly Bean. We are wondering what is the connection between the Grand S and Nubia Z5, as both phablet has similar specification except for the thickness …
In the mean time, we don’t know whether or not the new Grand S will have an LTE radio, and the 6.9-millimeter super thin body might limit the battery size too. If you were in any doubt as to what the trend will be for mobiles in 2013, this should put you straight. The Full HD 5-inch smartphones will be the new rising star. So far, from Chinese manufacturers, we already have HTC Butterfly, OPPO Find 5, ZTE Nubia Z5, and now the ZTE Grand S, we are sure Lenovo and Huawei won’t be keeping quiet on this. Rumor shows that Huawei will raise the bar with a monster 6.1-inch mobile that packs a 1080p screen. And there is another thing for sure, the 4-inch iPhone 5 is about to look pretty small (and outdated) next to all these 5 inch phablets.
