A Chinese Woman Got Tasered By U.S. Cops For Buying Too Many iPhones From Apple Store

sdfwww

Few days ago, a Chinese woman got tasered by a pair of Nashua polices after she refused to leave an Apple Store. She named Xiaojie Li, 44 years old, a Chinese national who lives in Newton. On that day, Li was carrying about $16,000 in cash to shop for iPhone 5s, but Apple Store refused to sell it to her because the store manager explained she had already bought two iPhone 5s last Friday and the store policy limits customers to two phones each. Due to language barrier, Li couldn’t understand and thought it’s unfair because she saw other customers buying multiple iPhones, so she attempted to record video of them doing so. The manager then asked her to leave for numbers of times and saying she was not welcomed at there, but Li persisted to stay. Shortly, the store called the police officers to escort her out to provide mall security.

News Report

The video shows Li was writhing and screaming on the floor when arresting by two cops.

Interview with Li’s fiancé

According to many news reports, Li was just trying to buy more iPhone 5s for her family members in China. Li’s fiancé told a WCVB reporter, “Even if she was a scalper, does it rise to the level of getting a beating from police?“.

The police said they did not use excessive force after using a taser on Li. Li was given 10 minutes to comply with arrest, but she did not do it. There is less violent option like pepper spray, but the police said it could have harmed other customers.

We don’t know whether it’s exactly the truth that Li couldn’t understand what the manager was saying, but it is definitely unnecessary for the police to use a taser on her to “provide security for the mall” after they couldn’t persuade Li to comply with arrest. From this incident, we could see Apple’s policy is really stupid and extremely unfriendly to customers, it doesn’t let customers to buy “too many” of their products even you have money. This just sounds like we need to beg Apple to sell us an iPhone. Why would you want to get an iPhone?

Excessive force to me imo but I would allow her to buy more. Let’s assume shes not a scalper and she’s just getting Christmas gifts for friends and family, this would make it impossible for her to do so.

Just because you have money doesn’t mean you can buy anything you want! This is no different then any other company that is offering a very popular product or an extremely discounted item. They want it to spread around, not be bought up by a small group. Apple sets policies to mitigate those things from happening. If you don’t agree, don’t support them by not buying there stuff! With that said I do think the police used excessive force on this lady, there’s no way two cops couldn’t contain this small lady without using a weapon.

This news is just the typical fishing for attention with Apple in the headline. The incident is actually, that a woman was banned from a shop, because she didn’t behave. A shop owner has the right to that and one has to accept that. This woman obviously didn’t and worse, she even didn’t obey the law enforcement.

The discussion here should be if the officers really had no other way to force the woman out, than to use tasers. Not if Apple should sell more iPhones or not.

Story is about the police action, not the store policy.

Yeah well when people start respecting the Police they won’t need to use excessive force.

In fairness, she was tazered for not complying with a lawful instruction. But a cop on each arm forcing her out would have done the trick since they had to carry her out anyway.

The other aspect to the story is that the woman lives in Massachusetts and had driven over the state line to New Hampshire to avoid paying sales tax on her multiple iPhone purchases.

She was most likely shopping for Chinese New Year gifts to bring back to family and friends next month.

No matter the circumstances, though, it’s extremely bad PR for Apple and has the potential to cause a lot of fireworks online once the various BBS in China pick up on the story.

Daughter and boyfriend speak English. Sounds like a “Me no speaky Eingrish.” nonsense to me.

  • just saying

she only understand Eingrish only when the boyfriend speak to her,not anyone else. i’m just saying how the hell the boyfriend talks to her? How did she get to the store across state line alone not understanding a lick of Eingrish, if the BF or daughter was with her why didnt they tell her what the store emplyee said? bottom line is she knew very well what she was doing.

A ” tiny woman taken down by two burly policemen” Nice you idiotic anchorwoman. This is what’s wrong with the country. Media puts their spin and sticks their opinions in instead of just telling the news. This woman has no problem getting around and buying I phones but when she doesn’t comply with officers suddenly the language barrier comes up. Take your $ 16,000 dollars and your fat boyfriend and go back to China. Let them sell you I phones there.

And Hey Fat Ass..if she wants to go back to China I will drive her and YOU !

Want to buy more iPhones? You’ve got 10 minutes before Apple taser you. Oh, the country you’re from may make the iPhone, but if you don’t speak English, it’s taser in 10 minutes as well. Shame On Apple
