ZTE May Reveals The Thinnest 5-inch Phablet Before X’mas To Compete With OPPO Find 5

Smartphone makers are getting insane of making 5-inch smartphone with 1080p display, so it should come as no surprise that China’s ZTE is, too. Call it “Nubia Z5″. It’s pretty similar to HTC Butterfly (known as HTC Droid DNA in U.S.) and Oppo Find 5 that opted a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdrago S4 Pro APQ8064 chipset and 2GB of RAM. Rumors are saying ZTE’s Nubia Z5 will have a slim chassis measured at 7.6mm in thickness, meaning it should be thinner than OPPO Find 5 and HTC Butterfly! Isn’t that exciting?

The rumor did not have too many info of the specs, but hinted it will bring a 13 MP rear-facing shooter and it’s possible to land in China before Christmas holiday. Price is unknown yet. ZTE is a latecomer to the segment, where HTC Butterfly is planned to go on sales sometimes this week in China and OPPO Find 5 will be announced tomorrow (We will attend to the launch event as well).

Display’s side-by-side comparison

Nubia Z5’s 1080p display is said to come with 440ppi, which will look more decent than Samsung S3 and iPhone 4S. But comparing with HTC Butterfly and the rumored OPPO Find 5, it is really not a surprise…

The global smartphone industry is apparently having a major change over this year, whereas top-tier smartphone brands are being threatened by China’s rising stars like Meizu, Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei, who had already shown off their works to challenge Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s S series phone. It’s now ZTE’s turn to show us what they have got.
