DIY: Make the iPad Apple Logo Glow (Video)

A Chinese manufacturing company has started performing a new iPad mod that lights up the Apple logo on the back of the iPad. Yeah, the new hack allows the iPad’s Apple logo glow. Much like the MacBook’s, the logo will glow once you turn the iPad on. We received the mod from the Chinese firm, and we think it’s a damn cool thing, so we shoot a video for you guys to watch. This new hack by a Chinese firm called iPad Light Mod will allow a user to make an iPad’s Apple logo glow. It’s something definitely could wow an Apple fanboy. To our knowledge, the mod uses the iPad’s original rear casing, and the light stays on only when the screen is on. Here’s the bummer, the mod is not available for sale. Guys over at iPad Light Mod say the hack is still in development, and they even set up a website to tease us further by saying,

“We will present you all sorts of mod parts such as Light Mod for New iPad and upcoming iPad mini”.

Well, the mod looks super cool, however, we don’t recommend this glowing Apple logo mod for the iPad. First, we will state the most obvious – it will completely void your Apple warranty. Opening your iPad in any unauthorized way will void your factory warranty with Apple. Second, our biggest concern is how this light mod actually function. According to the Chinese manufacturer who created this mod, they use the existing circuitry in the iPad to draw power, specifically the LCD cable. The iPad’s screen, is where the glowing panel pulls power from. So we think the iPad’s screen may face certain issues after the mod is installed.
