Designed almost identical to its Samsung counterpart, the flip cover has a svelte faux leather and plastic cover that covers the entire screen, leaving a small cutout for the speaker. The softer and more flexible part wraps around the iPhone’s left side, covering up the volume rocker and mute switch when closed. When open, those controls are fully accessible. A welcome improvement over the Samsung is the addition of a small magnetic catch that secures the cover to the screen.

As with iPhone 4 / 4S leather flip covers, this one comes with a hard shell into which the iPhone snaps securely. It protects the entire back and right side, along with the upper and lower left corners. The top and bottom are open, giving full access to the power button, headphone jack, Lightning port, speaker and microphone. It would have been better if the top was less exposed, though.

The soft felt inner lining gently caresses your iPhone’s back surface and screen while the cover gives added protection to help shield the screen from coins and other hazards lurking in pockets. A circular peep hole in the back shows off the shiny Apple logo on aluminum. The large, rounded rectangle camera and flash cutout has adequate margins for unobstructed image and video capture.

Perfect for working professionals and fans of simple, elegant cases, the Flip Cover for iPhone 5 does not add any bulk while providing protection, making it easy to slip into pockets and handbags alike.
