A Taiwanese news report says that assembler Pegatron scored 50 percent to 60 percent of production orders on the upcoming iPad Mini, Foxconn will supposedly get the rest. Pegatron will handle majority of the production work compared to Foxconn, and to be able to come up with such verbage would mean the iPad mini is well on its way to production, or could even be in the midst of it already. It seems like Apple is not about to put all of their eggs in a single basket. Industry analysts claim that it is possible to manufacture up to 5 million iPad minis each month with the workload split between the two manufacturers …
The Taiwan-based contractors Pegatron have reportedly received 15 percent orders from Apple to responsible for the manufacture of the new iPad, which released early this year. Foxconn is still Apple primary supplier for both iPad and iPhone but Apple is changing their manufacturing strategy. Apple would slowly shift its iPad orders from Foxconn to Pegatron while Foxconn would still be the prime partner for iPhone manufacturing. The new strategy would be decrease risk and increase the quantity of Apple products. Pegatron want to beat Foxconn to obtain a significant number of orders for the iPad product, we hope their plants in China have solve the problem on assembly process and safety issues. They have entangled in a labor dispute early this year over compensation, after an explosion last year in Shanghai factory.
