HTC Desire was one of our favorite phones when it launched two years ago. But after the One series revealed earlier this year, everyone seems to have almost forgot about the Desire. Therefore, HTC decided to revive the name of Desire and introduced “HTC Desire X” at the IFA consumer electronics fair in Berlin yesterday. This phone will sit with the rest of the One lineup between the One X and the One V. Chinese sources are saying the phone will get into China very soon, and the photos above are the leaked shots of the China Telecom CDMA version of HTC Desire X, which has a different code-name as HTC T528d.

Specs-wise, it has a 4-inch super LCD WVGA (800×480) screen, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 4GB of onboard storage space, 768MB of RAM, a 5 megapixel camera (that included HTC’s ImageChip), Beats Audio integration and a 1650mAh battery. Those who’re seeking for Android Jelly Bean won’t find it here, as the device runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Customers will get 25GB of free cloud storage of Dropbox for two years. However, since Dropbox is banned in China, HTC will have to choose a Chinese cloud storage service provider for offering online storage to Chinese users. From the past experience, HTC will partner with Sina Weipan to provide cloud storage service. The Android handset will be available across the Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia-Pacific regions from September this year. A contract-free Desire X is allegedly to be priced at around 2,263 yuan (US$365) in Taiwan.

Two weeks ago, HTC said the company is will gradually step inon the booming Chinese market after they realized it’s so damn difficult to contend with Apple and Samsung in U.S. and Europe. In this sense, HTC Desire X will be a new rival of the 2,000-3,000 yuan (US$315-$470) smartphone segment in China.
