Xiaomi Latest Handset Mi-One S Sold Out 200,000 Units in Half-an-hour

The latest device from domestic brand Xiaomi — the US$236 (1,499 yuan) Mi-One S — sell out of an initial batch of 200,000 units in just 30 minutes, with over 1 million additional reservations left to fulfill. The Mi-One S features an upgraded dual-core 1.7 GHz processor, a 2-megapixel front camera and an improved 8-megapixel rear camera. A total of 3.5 million units of the first-generation Mi-One were sold, making it the third-most popular Android phone in China last quarter. Xiaomi has drawn comparisons to Apple, and the naming scheme of the Mi-One S, look alike to resemble from the iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS. Last week, Xiaomi unveiled its second generation Mi-Two smartphone, the quad-core handset with HD screen, will be one of the first Chinese phones to ship with Jelly Bean OS and is being sold at an attractive low price of US$315 (1,999 yuan). For now, Xiaomi’s phones are only available in China, but the company may have some plans to expand overseas.
