Hong Kong is frequently described as a place where “East meets West”, reflecting the culture’s mix of the territory’s Chinese roots with influences from its time as a British colony. The place is now a special administrative regions of China. Superheroes from the West usually do world-saving work, but what if they choose to live in ‘Pearl of the Orient’ ? A Chinese photographer has a creative series of photographs that show well known superheroes living rather ordinary lives in Hong Kong. Batman is seen strolling a night market, Wolverine is a meat butcher, Hellboy is spotted enjoying Cantonese hot pot, and Spiderman is getting waste paper recycling.
