A customer from mainland China has made some naive revenge during his visit to Hong Kong’s Apple store. The fellow is a public opinion monitoring analyst from The People’s Daily Online. The People’s Daily is a daily newspaper to promote the Communist Party of China. The media provides direct information on the policies and viewpoints of the Chinese government. It maintains an online presence as The People’s Daily Online. Mr. Pang, the analyst, has visited the Apple store in Hong Kong last week, intended to buy a laptop for his friend. He needed some advice from the Apple’s employee, but no one pay any attention to him, according to his word. He was fed up and decided to give the Cupertino a lesson, by playing a prank on all the display iPad …
Mr. Pang has spend about 2 hours to reset the browser’s default page on all display iPad inside the store. The default page has became The People’s Daily Online web page on every single iPad. He than posted a meassage on Chinese social media telling all his follower about his mischievous action. He has taken a picture to show his achievement and made a harsh comment: “You are not allowed to join the Communist party, not allowed to have consciousness, this will make you miserable …” The message has been retweet more than 15 thousand times and most of the Chinese netizen criticize for his foolish acts. Since the incident has triggered controversy, Mr. Pang deleted the original post and made an public apology (content in Chinese) on his micro-blog. He emphasized that his so-called ‘personal’ comment has nothing to do with his works over at The People’s Daily Online.

In fact, we are really curious on what the hell is a ‘public opinion monitoring analyst’, we guess it should be some kind of work related to internet censorship. It is complete ignorance for such a communism prank to be happen inside an Apple store. No Apple user are willing to choose a communist media website as their browser’s default page. Apple’s employee should watch out their demo iPad to prevent this kind of sabotage to happen again.
