
MediaTek announced that it would cooperate with Twitter, the social networking giant that boasts 140 million active users, to develop a feature phone for emerging markets. The Taiwan-based chipmaker, said that feature phones equipped with its newest chip, the MT6255, will be the first to install Twitter applications. In addition, their MRE software platform is designed particularly to run Twitter services too. Chinese consumer have been rapidly replacing their old feature phone nowadays as smartphones are getting much cheaper. And most of the Chinese phone user never heard of twitter thanks to internet censorship. Feature phone may be still popular in some emerging countries, but China will properly not in the list anymore.
