Chinese Restaurant Employs Robots to Serve Customers (Video)

A Chinese restaurant in Harbin, Heilongjiang province in Northeast China has provided 18 robots to greet customers, and even doing the kitchen works and serving the food. Each robot cost about 200,000 yuan (US$31,400), and it can perform simple dialogue. To prevent any collisions while serving, each robot has equipped with ultrasonic detection devices for obstacle avoidance, and the robots come with fault detection too. Once the robot is getting ’sick’, it will issued alarm to the control room so the technical staff can approach for the maintenance. Each robot can operate for 5 hours on a 2 hours single charge.
