Why Didn’t Apple Sue The Maker of This 21.5-inch iMac Knockoff ?

Untitled

The Chinese knockoff makers always have the balls to rip off Apple so blatantly. A Chinese company has recently introduced an all-in-one computer which can trick many into believing it’s an iMac. But if you turn it on and use it, you will find out it’s a slow, underpowered and cheap PC. More pictures of the machine after the jump.

This iMac knockoff packs a 21.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, along with a 1.8GHz dual core Atom D525 processor, integrated Intel’s GMA3150 graphics, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB, 7200RPM hard drive, a built-in DVD burner (no Blu-ray option, unfortunately), four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI-in, VGA, among other standard fare. It can be purchased with/without the Apple logo.

According to the manufacturer, the machine sports a “highly recyclable aluminum” enclosure, however, we think it’s just a plastic enclosure with metallic color. Next, it’s worth noting that this iMac knockoff actually weighs almost half the weight of Apple’s iMac — 11.9 pounds (5.4 kg). Price is still unknown, but feel free to hit the source link if you’re curious enough to make a phone call and ask the manufacturer. Apple, got it?

lol… it takes a full fledged Appleholic to get upset over this All in One Computer iMac Clone.

First of all they are available all over China and most of Asia and not meant to compete directly with Apple’s products. Although my friend picked one up on a recent trip to Hong Kong for under $300 and it is indeed in an Aluminum case (AL-MG-SI) that is a one piece casting, it’s not even meant to rival Apple iMac computers. Instead my friend bought it for his 13yr old daughter and she actually loves it. It is after all full 1080p HD and is fine for use on the web. People remark thinking it’s a real iMac (because few people know the difference) how great it looks.

Customs didn’t even bother him as they also thought it was an iMac by looking at it. So they just waved him on. Since he’d used it while there and obviously thought he’d had it with him when he left the USA. She says it at least out performs her netbook and old desktop PC and I say say good on her and the company who made it without it being jacked way up in price just having a real Apple logo on it!

The author asked the question in regards to Apple’s IP.

Your comment sounds juvenile in light of that.
