How would you change China’s MacBook Air Knockoff?

macbook

The MacBook Air knockoff is a beast in the world of netbooks and maybe a better choice if you are choosing it in between with the real one. Given how the knockoff makers overcome those severe limitations on the Apple’s MacBook Air (see: single USB port, non-removable battery, etc.), we are extra curious to see whether you like this knockoff or not. Is it finally time for the knockoff makers to upgrade it to a more “pro” oriented MacBook Air knockoff? Or do you want it to be downsized? Is 13-inches really the ideal display size here? Would you add Apple Mac OS X into the machine to be your secondary MacBook? No need to go easy on anything — tell it like it is in comments below.

One more thing, the MacBook Air knockoff is available for sale at feltu.com, feel free to purchase one and you are still an Apple fanboy. Maybe you should take a look at its tech specs first.

If the price is right, I'd want a minimum Dual Core Atom w/the Nvidia Ion chipset. I can always add ram and a bigger hard drive but if it costs as much as a used real Mac that's easily more powerful then why bother?

  • Paul

No need Ion — then it will be impossible to put OS X. About the way OS X — send me detailed lspci data of your MacBook Air Knokoff. Before buy I want to make sure that I can put on it hakintosh, or even original Mac OS X without hack!

  • Paul

To counterfeiting has become even better do not have enough of these changes:
    — Remove the LED indicators from the edge of your laptop (near the touchpad), they are not interested at all
    — Replace Windows key (logo to the left out of space button) to the button like in the originaly mac keyboard
    — Make сharger socket for European sockets
    — Make all white charger and cables
    — Make a version of the keyboard with Cyrillic markings
    — Still would be illuminated keyboard — it would be even cool!

    - add internal bluetooth
    - better battery life
    - white mac like power adaptor (for US and Europe)
    - remove windows key
    - apple bios splash screen
    - hackintosh pre installed

  • Anthony

I'd be happier if they came with OS X installed, I mean if you're copying the brand, the box, the name and everything else you may as well install the software too.

    - 3g
    - bigger battery (at least as option)
    - 12 inch screen (more portable, better battery life)
    -n450 + ION
    - Ubuntu version (i.e. linux friendly out of the box)
    - multi-touch, depending on additional cost (now that Synoptics has released linux drivers this should be doable even for Linux OS!).
    - Better cooling – based on the review the fan was running often – wastes battery and annoying!
-….ah and keep the option of not having the logo!

I think this thing needs a steamroller to roll across.
Maybe then it might fit in an envelope.
I don’t understand how this “news site” can promote copies of trademarks and intellectual property. In my country that’s an offense and will result in the destruction of the knockoff(s) and paying a high fee. Dealers businesses would be closed down.

so how much is the prize??

It’s a Macbook AIR, this clone is way to thick!

1366×768? Nah, up the display resolution.
