Do you still remember more than a year ago, a Taiwanese pop star Jimmy Lin leaked an iPad mini on his Weibo? Well, that was just a fake 8-inch iPad clone. But today, the Chinese media Netease claimed Apple is reportedly gearing up to build 6 million units of iPad mini. The new device will be at 7.85 inches with the same res (1024×768) as the first gen iPad, and they believed the “iPad mini” is aimed to counter attack the upcoming Windows 8 tablets.

The source estimated the device will cost anywhere from $249 to $299. With some experts point out, the price of “iPad mini” cannot be too low, because it may harms the sales of the original iPad. Foxconn and Pegatron allegedly received orders of iPad mini from Apple, and it’ll be shipped in the third quarter of the year.
