Huawei Readying 10-Inch Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet to Compete with iPad 3

After the AT&T branded 4G (HSPA+) Huawei MediaPad headed to America, the chairman of Huawei said the company will launch a tablet named MediaPad 10 FHD at Mobile World Congress 2012 (MWC), and claimed it will become the “highest-end tablet in the world“.

According to Yu Cheng Dong, the chairman of Huawei said on his Sina Microblog (has been deleted already):

Today I’ve managed to get my first hands-on time with the MediaPad 10 FHD that will be introduced in the Mobile World Congress 2012. I am shocked with the machine, it works very well with photos, full HD video playback and 3D gaminh. I felt all sorts of emotion surging within me after using it. We are confident the specs of this tablet will not be weaker than the yet to be announced iPad 3, and we believe it can hold on to the title of the “world’s highest end tablet” for at least a year.

With the MediaPad 10, we can assume the tablet comes with a 10-inch Full HD (FHD) display with resolution of 1920×1200. The processor may utilized Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core CPU or Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Quad-core CPU at 2.5GHz, therefore the smoothness and quality of video playback should turn out very nice. In addition, the machine should be having two cameras in the front and the back, the rear camera should have at least 8.0 megapixels. If the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD does not have a quad-core processor and a high res display, it will fail to gain significant traction in the tablet market.

The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD will be announced a bit earlier than the iPad 3, as Mobile World Congress 2012 will begin on the 27th of Feb until the March 1, where the iPad 3 announcement will be held on the March 7 (not yet confirmed).
