Oppo Find 3 Lands February 18th, Pre-Orders to Start On Valentine’s Day

Last month, we had reported that Chinese manufacturer Oppo is getting more serious on jumping into the smartphone business with an Android-powered smartphone called the Oppo Find 3. Today, the company is glad to announce that the Find 3 is sure to land on February 18th, and pre-ordering will start on Valentine’s Day.

Oppo made an announcement on its official Sina Weibo page on Wednesday telling fans that the company’s new flagship phone — the Find 3 — will be available for pre-order at retail stores in Dalian, Shanghai, Nanjing, Changsha, Xi’an and Chengdu, starting from February 14th. And the phone will be officially launched in these six cities in China on February 18th.

For those who are not familiar with the Oppo Find 3, it’s actually a successor to the Oppo X903 smartphone that was released in August 2011. It’s surprising to see the company launching the Find 3 in less than 6 months since the release of the X903, and we find that the Find 3 has some good specs. The Find 3 sports a 4-inch WVGA IPS capacitive touchscreen (800 x 480), runs Android Gingerbread with custom UI on its dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 processor, which is clocked at 1.5 GHz. Furthermore, it packs a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage on board. It takes microSD cards (up to 32GB), and the phone comes with a brushed steel design that looks pretty cool.

The Find 3 supports HDMI-out

Rumors say Sony is the supplier behind the Find 3 8MP camera

We know Sony is the camera supplier for Apple’s iPhone 4S, and rumors say the eight megapixel sensor in the Find 3 is built by Sony, so photos taken from the Find 3 might have similar results as the iPhone 4S. Well, if that’s so, Oppo is a nice smartphone to compete with Meizu MX and Xiaomi M1, and with other smartphones in its price range as well. While there’s no word on pricing, we’re guessing the Find 3 will cost you ¥3,000 – 3,500 ($476 – $555). Sadly you won’t be able to get your hands on one of these, as it’s a Chinese exclusive.
