What a year 2011 has been in China, and we’ve worked hard this year to bring you lots of ridiculous news on China. In 2011, we have seen lots of typical Chinese life styles such as a teenager selling his kidney for an iPad 2, and of course, there are some incidents that we do not know why they would happened — the deadly bullet train crash that killed 40 people, and a 2-year old girl getting hit by car twice and ignored by 18 people. So, below are the ten most ridiculous China news of the year, as ranked by the goofy guys here at M.I.C. Gadget.
Check it out!
1. Chinese Teen Sells His Kidney For an iPad 2

To the majority of Chinese, Apple’s products mean a lot to them, just like their dignity. And that’s what exactly happening to this Chinese kid. He does not come from a rich family, but he wanted an iPad 2 very badly. One day, he spotted an online advertisement offering ¥20,000 (about $3,000) of cash to anyone who is willing to be an organ donor. So, he looked for the company to accept the deal. He then was guided by three middlemen to do a body checkup in a local hospital, and went ahead to conduct organ transplant in an unlicensed hospital. Fortunately, he is still alive now with his iPad 2, but lost a kidney.
2. ZTE Employee Builds Ultra-realistic Homemade Iron Man Suit

A super smart Chinese man from Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTE spent ¥3,000 (about $460) and 3 months time to build an ultra-realistic Iron Man suit. He has no experience on DIY at all, and he only has basic tools at home, such as pliers, tapes, scissors, and two tin boxes from IKEA. He is now a very popular man who had already showed up on many local TV programs and Korean TV channel MBC’s program. That’s awesomely cool.

3. 71-Yrs-Old Chinese Man Drinks Gasoline for 42 Years

Not any humans are supposed to drink gasoline. However, this 71-year-old man has been guzzling the stuff for half of his life to quell his chest pains. He first began to drink gasoline when he was instigated by other folks mythical belief. He had been consumed this toxic beverage for 42 years, 3 to 3.5 kilograms of gasoline every month, that means he had already sucked down about 466 gallons. But what surprised us the most is that he is still alive! Doctors are guessing that he must have developed some sort of immunity to gasoline. Unbelievable!
4. Deadly Wenzhou Train Collision

This is pathetic…It is probably one of the biggest accident happened in China during this year. The deadly bullet train crash killed 40 people and injured 172. Before the incident happened, the Chinese government was hoping the country’s mighty bullet train project would set up a milestone for the nation. But now, everyone is disappointed and desperate with the bullet train after the scandal was widespread across the Chinese internet. But what’s even more unforgivable and unacceptable is the quote from Wang Yongping (China’s Railways Ministry spokesman). His quote has bear in our mind forever. Wang told the journalists that they had already done anything they could, that’s the explanation that he could offer and added “Whether you believe it or not, I certainly do.”. This sentence has already became one of the hottest internet buzzwords in China so far. How irresponsible they are!

The Kunming’s fake Apple store was stunning. But did you remember Kunming also has a fake IKEA store? It’s named “11 Furniture (Shi Yi Jia Ju)”, and it is a 10,000 square meter four-story building. The inside of the fake IKEA store in Kunming looks and feels very the same as the genuine IKEA, such as the blue and yellow color scheme, mock-up rooms, miniature pencils, signage and even its rocking chair designs. The most obvious difference between the fake and the genuine that you could perceive is probably the menu. Because the fake store features Chinese-style braised minced pork and eggs instead of Ikea’s Swedish meatballs and salmon. The video above shows the making of the fake IKEA furniture.

6. China’s High-tech Anti-Tanning Swimwear

Who the hell is she? A fat Chinese lady from Qingdao, a city in eastern China. You can tell from her ‘high-tech’ anti-tanning swimwear that she cared about her skin very much. It is said that the purpose of this custom-made swimsuit is to prevent skin exposure to the sun (prevent tanning), and perhaps protection against jellyfish when swimming. Her incredible swimsuit was widely discussed on the Chinese Internet, and most Chinese netizens commented that they think she looked like more stylish than Lady Gaga. LOL!
7. Canadian Criticizes Chinese Government With The “F” Word

This Canadian had guts! During his trip to a city in central China, he was asked to show his passport to verify his identity to buy the train ticket, as the government had adopted a real-name ticket sales system aims to make buying a ticket more convenient and fair, and fighting against ticket-scalping. But this angry Canadian loses patience at a train ticket office and starts a cursing rant, by saying a lot of foul language,
“It’s fxxking 2011, Chairman Mao is dead! Chinese people need to learn brains, and what freedom is! This fxxking government is got to go! See, I’m Canadian, I don’t have to shut up. Chinese people have to shut up!”

8. Chinese Car Models Strip Off Their Bikini For Promotion

This is the most amusing car show that we have ever reported. This auto show was held in Heilongjiang province, in northeastern part of China. The sexy car models were ordered to strip off their bikini to promote cars. We know this is very inappropriate and unethical, however it had caught many attentions. We wonder does any of the visitors still care about the exhibited cars?

9. Yueyue — A 2-Year-Old Girl Ran Over by Van & Ignored by 18 Bystanders

This is EXTREMELY SAD! You should remember this little girl Yue Yue. She was left bleeding in a road after being run over by two different vehicles and then ignored by 18 passersby. Although a kind-heart garbage scavenger came forward to give out her helping hands without a second of hesitation, however, Yue Yue is already in the heaven now. After all, one of the guilty driver rang up Yue Yue’s father and attempted to negotiate for paying compensation. But all Yue Yue’s parents want is to sue the drivers. There are several cities having mourning ceremony across China to commemorate her passing. You can check out the ceremony through this link here. Furthermore, we previously also had a report on a nurse who mistook an alive baby as a dead body.
Editor’s note: Apparently, some people in China are feared getting in trouble for doing a right thing. WTF…
10. Chinese College Girl Offers 5 Nights of Sex for iPhone 4S

This case is very similar to the kid who sold his kidney for an iPad 2 aforementioned. Well, because of her immaturity, this Chinese girl offers someone 5 nights of sex just for an exchange of Apple’s latest iPhone 4S. A chat log which had recorded from the QQ instant messenger was exposed on the China Internet, and revealed this shocking news. It seems Chinese youth are wild about Apple products because of the phenomenon on their vanity and peer pressure. Though it’s still beyond what we could understand, as revealed by local news reports, many teenagers in China have considered to sell their body one way or another in exchange for Apple i-Products.
