Is Lenovo Game Console Ever Coming Out?

Oh my gosh…What the hell is Lenovo doing! The company once again delayed its video game console. It was originally planned to release by this month, but the CEO of Eedoo is telling that they now to rescheduled the launch date to early 2012. Maybe some of you guys don’t know about Eedoo. It is a company funded by Lenovo.

A source close to the situation disclosed the launch of the product may be delayed further as the product was not found to be robust enough. Maybe even the company is now re-thinking their iSec doesn’t even worth 3,000 yuan ($472) that much, and perhaps that’s why they are having amendment, and tried to lower the expectations for the iSec to emphasize that it is more of an entertainment system than a gaming system. According to the CEO of Eedo said on his Weibo:

“Our product is not a gaming system. We don’t want, nor do we have the ability, to offer large-scale complex games. The iSec entertainment system requires medium level complex games to support.”

The company had already invested over 100 million yuan for Research & Development, and spent about two and a half years. This is probably the longest project that Lenovo ever had. With a Eedoo spokesman said:

“The product still needs work, and we want to invest more research and development in it.”

While Eedoo is delaying the launch of iSec, the company unveiled another gaming system this past weekend. The device called the CT510 (shown above), it features motion sensing technology, focusing on exercise-related games and it is expected to launch after the Chinese New Year. The function of this device is quite similar to iSec. Is this a replacement of iSec? Is iSec never going to come out? We doubt.

Eedoo’s CT510 will be priced range from 3,000 to 4,000 yuan (roughly $472 – $625). Seems like Eedoo is very confident that Chinese consumers are willing to pay for this huge amount of money for a untested console. However, we don’t agree. It is way to expensive. Why not getting Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 from the grey market?
