Chinese telecoms network companies Huawei and ZTE have won a joint contract to build the world’s largest fourth-generation mobile phone network for Softbank in Japan. The 4G network that Softbank builds will be based on the AXGP format, which will be compatible with the LTE TDD technology used in China, a standard that Apple will reportedly support. The two companies will build a system capable of downloading data at up to 110 megabits per second, making it the fastest mobile data service in Japan …

Huawei and ZTE will build more then ten thousands base stations for Softbank. ZTE said that it will work with Softbank to cover 90 percent with the 4G wireless network while Huawei said it will be contribute to building the 4G network in parts of Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. The announcement of the joint contract revealed what might be an underlying drama between both companies. Huawei and ZTE, both based in Shenzhen, China, are staunch rivals in almost everything they undertake. The two companies, apart from competing in the wireless technology market, are also competing in the smartphone market, launching their respective devices in Asian and European markets. Earlier this year, Huawei sued ZTE alleging patent infringement relating to its LTE technology.
In China, Huawei and ZTE will not have this type of joint contract for any network construction. This venture in Japan is a good example of how the Chinese companies are stepping up its business operations overseas in comparison to at home. As for the Chinese people, they will definitely to get complacent for building next generation mobile network in Japan, consider Japan is the country of advanced technology.
