Meizu CEO Jack Wong just revealed a real pic of the upcoming Meizu MX. It shows the display of the device, featuring a high-res display that is very bright and vibrant, with a better color saturation than the M9. It also shows the bezel space on the sides of the display, just like the iPhone 4. However, there’s something we don’t like about it.

This new screen has a pixel density of 292 pixels per inch, compared to the 320 ppi display of the M9. WTF? The ppi is downgraded? We do not know what Meizu is thinking about, but J. Wong seemed to be very confident on it…
“I was blown away by the level of detail the 292 ppi display has. And the 1.4Ghz dual-core and quad-core.”
J.Wong has also revealed the upcoming Meizu MX to cost around 2999 and 3999 yuan ($469 and $625) for the 16 and 32 GB versions. Yup, there will be two MX variants: the 16GB version comes with a dual-core chip, while the 32GB version will sport a quad-core beast. Jack also mentioned the development of the Meizu MX is going pretty well and that the phone currently doesn’t resemble to any of the previously posted patent application images.

We believe these patent drawings do not represent the MX, they are probably one of the designs Meizu has in mind. As for the rest, J. Wong also confirmed that the MX will still have a removable back cover like the M9, and boasts a micro-USB port instead of the aging mini-USB socket. The release date? It has been delayed to the end of December. We are disappointed, since Apple’s iPhone 5 will be selling like hotcakes during the end-of-year.
And we noticed something. Does the Xiaomi stands a chance to compete with Meizu MX? Well, we think it just doesn’t work out for Meizu at the moment. Xiaomi is offering a 1.5GHz dual core processor for just 1,999 yuan ($312), and that’s only 66% of the price of the MX dual core version 1.4GHz. Coupled with MIUI, it is a highly possible option for many Android users. Talking about the look and feel, we think Xiaomi is pretty sexy, and we hope MX could at least feature a super thin design to stand out.
