Latest Apple Patents Would Eliminate Fake Apple Products from China

Whoa, looks like Apple is putting a lot of attention on China’s fake Apple products. According to Patently Apple, the latest 37 design patents that were granted to Apple in China concern the iOS, MacBook Air, iPod nano and Shanghai Apple store. So, if the knockoff makers have any intentions on copying the design of any of these stuff, they will definitely get SUED by Apple.

The knockoff makers love to copy Apple’s stuff, especially the iPods, iPhone, MacBook Air and the Apple stores. We have reported different kinds of Apple knockoffs on our site, the famous ones include the mighty MacBook Air knockoff with glowing Apple logo, the “SoPhone” which includes an OS that looks exactly like Apple’s iOS, and lastly, the fake Apple stores across China. Apple is perfectly aware of these counterfeits. So, they have submitted design patents to China’s Patent Office to stop these copycats.

The iPhone and iPod nano

In China, we see lots of fake iPhones and iPods. The fake iPhones always feature a user-interface that is very similar to the Apple’s iOS. The iOS wannabe could do anything — there’s an app dock, you can drag the icons, create folder, do “multi-tasking”, and enjoy the cover-flow feature in the iPod/Music app. Apple is pissed, so their latest design patents cover various UI elements from the iPhone, the iPod nano. iAd is included too!

The MacBook Air

Apple’s design patent coverage of their MacBook Air could stop the Asian OEMs to create a UltraBook with a MacBook Air design. Umm… Maybe Lenovo should take note of this if they want to introduce a UltraBook.

The Shanghai Apple Store

The first Apple store in Shanghai features a glass cylinder look. In order to prevent the Chinese copycats to build something like that, Apple submitted patent designs of the store covering the overall design of the store along with views from the side and even the top of the store. Even the glass panels are included in the patents..

Actually, Steve Jobs is proud of this beautiful glass architecture.
