Mothers Offering Their “Baby” To Smugglers to Smuggle Goods (Video)

Previously, we had seen smuggling cases like dealers “smuggling” the iPhone 4s through subway and flying smuggled iPad in the air. And today, we are going to tell you even “baby” is one of the tools that utilized by smugglers to earn money!

Why smuggling goods?

Like what we said in prior, Hong Kong and China run independent legal and taxation systems, smugglers in China often try to get goods from the former British colony to make a profit on the lower prices.

Why is baby (1-3 years old)?

Because they are CUTE! They look innocent! So, less suspicion. Furthermore, babies at the age of 1-3 still don’t know how to walk by themselves, and the stroller can be the smuggling cart. In each cart, smugglers can store 30 cans of milk powders. Firstly, they put 10 cans on the basket underneath, then using recycle bags store 10 more on the top and the remain 10 will be stored separately in two recycle bags that hang on the stroller’s handlebars. Some smugglers even carried one more bag of smuggled good while having a cart of goods.

As you may not know, milk powders that produced in China are not reliable, they may cause various diseases which you probably have heard of. Also, milk powders are selling for a lower price due to the legal and taxation systems in Hong Kong, so many Mainland China’s mothers are feeling more comfortable to purchase milk powders from Hong Kong instead. In the meanwhile, they can also sell extra goods to mainland’s vendor for profit purpose.

How much can those mothers earn?

It depends on how many rides and how many goods did the mothers take. For each ride, they may earn $300 RMB (around $46), and normally they start smuggling around two o’clock in the afternoon, three rides a day is a maximum. After deducting travelling fares, they can earn approximately $800 RMB (around $123) per day. At the moment, there are about 50 mothers are smuggling goods, so is like a team of “Mother Smuggler”.

If the mother doesn’t want to risk for the ride, they may rent their baby to the smugglers and the mother can earn $100 RMB (around $15) for each ride. Allegedly, if a mother smuggler caught by Mainland custom, they are usually more easily to plead for an exception.
