Natural disaster is inevitable, therefore we need prediction. Back 2008, China launched two small disaster monitoring satellites and recent report claimed they have allowed China to more rapidly monitor natural disasters with greater range.
Those two satellites were put into operation in November in 2008, they provided the government with disaster information three to six times faster and monitoring range has been increased ten times than previously.
Both of them are first of their kind that launched by China, which equipped with optical, infrared and hyperspectral sensors. In the past three years, they had provided desirable data and information to guide government bodies in rescuing and reconstruction work in more than 70 natural disasters, and they also have been broadly used in agricultural output assessment and fire prevention.
