Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Gets Blocked in China?

WP7 Marketplace Blocked in China?

Window Phone 7’s users in China reportedly are having difficulty accessing Marketplace in the past few days. Do you have the same problem? Check out what is going on after the break.

The issue was uncovered by a blog two days ago, which said:

Most Chinese WP7 users in my circle (myself included) had this problem: the Marketplace tile shows a certain number of apps could be updated, but when we click update, the progress bar stays “pending” like forever, then suddenly surge to 100%, and ends up “attention required” fail right away.

Users can’t download any app, but they can still browse content and receive update notifications.

This shouldn’t be a technical issue with Microsoft’s Marketplace since it works fine when VPN is switched on, otherwise it is going to be a business fraud, and we did not hear any news about any complains of Marketplace so far.

If not, what cause a problem? Is that’s the China’s GFW? You would immediately be thinking are there any apps in the Marketplace deemed to piss off the China’s Communist party? We have no idea, with Windows Phone Sauce blogger Kane Gao said:

I’ve got a quite clear idea about the general content in the Marketplace and am pretty sure there’s nothing that could possibly piss the CCP off. 100% sure all Chinese apps are ”safe”.

Hope this is not going to ban permanently. Probably Microsoft now is having negotiations with the Chinese government, and Nokia should be a bit frustrating right now, yea?
