Here are the Chinese tech and gadget news you might have missed this week ( we have missed those news too … ), enjoy !

  • Flipboard is going back to China ( TechRice ). The popular iPad app is trying to return to the Chinese mobile app’s market, looking for content curator.
  • China’s Top 10 iPhone and Android applications ( TechRice ). Games are still the most popular app amoung the Chinese, and QQ instant messenger is the top app on both iPhone and Android.
  • What are the trends in Chinese social media ( HP Labs – *PDF file ). A valuable research on the comparison of Weibo and Twitter. A good read if you want to know more about micro-blogging in China.
  • Rovio partners with China’s leading mobile advertising company to make revenue from free-version of Angry Birds ( VentureBeat ). Angry Birds are flying to China to make more money !
  • HTC has bought Dashwire for cloud phone backup and patents ( ZDNet ). Look like the purchase will equip HTC that could help it to avoid future squabbles like its current patent battle with Apple.
  • Former UK government CIO joins Huawei ( WantChinaTimes ). The well-known Chinese mobile company want to improve communication between governments and members of the public, and of course, to develop a better cyber security.
  • Apple learned to think like the Communist Party ( FP ). The inside story on how Apple has conquered China.
  • IdeaPad K1 tablet review ( Gizmodo ). A positive review on Lenovo latest tablet, although it feels a bit bulky, with poor speaker and inappropriate ads in default launcher.
  • China’s first aircraft carrier is for scientific research ( Xinhua news ). Hope most of the people will believe what China was saying.
  • Huawei will be selling their 7 inch MediaPad in September ( SOHU digital – * Chinese translated ). The price will be not more then 4,000 yuan (US$620) … We think Huawei should have a better price point than this.
