China’s Home Appliance Brand Tends Toward Selling Tablets

Haier“, a home appliances company recently launched its HaiPad at a consumer electronics show in Qingdao in eastern China. HaiPad is 7-inch touchscreen-tablet based on Android 2.2 with its DianXin-made theme, which emphasizes on social media and streaming movies. Specs and photos after the break…

HaiPad will offer consumers with quite a few stylish colors as you can see on the above photos. Besides, the machine renders a Samsung 1GHz processor, dual cameras, W-CDMA 3G and Android 2.2.

Worth to mention that the DianXin-made theme is financed by Li Kai-fu’s Innovation Works fund, where Li Kai-fu is the founding president of Google China. Moreover, DianXin made-theme will bring users with some un-Android enhancement, such as dragging apps together to make a folder, which sounds more like an iOS gesture.

One last thing, not only China’s home appliance brand like Haier is tendency toward of making own-branding tablet, foreign company like Philips had already breakthrough into Chinese market with its 7-inch GoGear Connect 7. Perhaps this trend began after Google announced its Android@Home. But the question is how well can those home appliance brands build an Android-powered tablets that suit with their own home appliances.
